Ok so my parents (i'm 1 got a wedding invitation in the mail today and it was addressed "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" (not my real last name) and so I'm assuming that I'm not invited.......or am I wrong? I want to go but I know how much food will probably cost and really understand that.... my parents haven't seen the invitation yet..... so idk what they think or if they are even gonna go...... but do you think I should just not go? It's family, not that close... but still family... so it would be nice to see some relatives I haven't seen for a while.thanks everyone! btw i'm assuming i'm NOT invited..... probably for the best lol.... |

If your name is not on the invitation, I would say you shouldn't go.

Usually if it doesn't say "Smith family" or "Mr./Mrs.Smith and family" then it means the kids are not invited. Your parents should call and make sure just in case. Since you are over 18 and just got the invitation, your own invitation could still be on it's way in the mail.

well, if your name wasn't on there... you probably weren't invited. But your mom could call and chat with her casually and throw it in there and see. If you're family, I don't see why you weren't invited? But every bride is different.

If you haven't opened it, there's usually an inner envelope that lists by name who all is invited. If your name is on that, then you're invited, if it isn't, then you're not. Your relatives may have simply had to make some tough decisions regarding numbers, and had to eliminate you, even though you're 18. They probably wouldn't have wanted to offend younger cousins who they definitely weren't inviting. That's assuming you're not invited. Wait until your parents get home, let them open the invite, and take it from there.

Usually if the invitation doesn't include "and family" or "and guest" you are probably not invited. The bride and groom may have only been able to afford those tow plates for your family.

If it doesn't say "and family" then no you are not invited. Unless on the inside envelope it says your name or and family. Please for the bride's sake and sanity, don't assume anything. If you have any questions please call her directly and ask. The last thing she needs is a cousin showing up that she purposely left off the dinner list for monetary reasons expecting to be fed. I know that for my wedding I am excluding some family from the dinner because I don't know them very well and don't see them but once a year and can't afford to feed people that I don't know. Keep this saying in mind "When you assume, you make an a** out of you and me."Call the bride with questions.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
