Okay. It's really important to us to be married in the church. Being married in the church will cost us $400. That will include the pastor, set up/take down, the unity candle/communion and some decorations. I'm worried about where to have a reception and all the financial details that come with that as well as I'm trying to find the type of wedding dress I've been DREAMING of since I was a little girl, used so it's less money. I don't have a photographer, caterer, DJ, or any attire yet. I'm so stressed. Please someone tell me that this happiest day of my life is going to run smoothly. If I could get some of these types of business'/people to help me, I can trade services maybe? I'm very computer savy and also just had a baby, so maybe babysitting??? I don't knoe, as you can tell. I'm REALLY overwhelmed. Please advise. Thanks, Amaris

An excellent resource is the Orange County local board at theknot.com. http://talk.theknot.com/boards/ShowForum.aspx?ForumID=63 The ladies there are very helpful and many are on tight budgets as well.

What is your actual budget for everything? You mentioned the cost of the church, but you didn't mention how much you can afford overall, and how many people you plan on inviting. Receptions can sometimes be done at the church as well....check into that. As for catering, maybe you and your family/friends can do the food? DJ is not as difficult as you think if you have friends who have a good music collection, and you can easily rent out the sound equipment from the church...yes, they have them for their services on Sunday. I know a wedding is important to you, but you shouldn't plan something and NEED something that is beyond what you can afford right now. That is way too much stress...add that to a new baby....I can just see the groom wanting to run off in the other direction!

I would suggest that you use the free-online tool knot.com This website will guide you through the entire process, from creating a guest/gift tracker, budgeting tools, timeline, etc, and would even suggest vendors around your area. Getting organized and keeping a list of ALL of your ideas, even on a word document, would be a good start. Just keep a running of list of anything that comes to mind then you can work on sorting out the list by importance, deadlines, and maybe adding categories, and you delegate some of the responsibilities to your friends/family whom you may have chosen to be part of your wedding. It should be fun!

I know how you are feeling my wedding day is the 8-16-08 as well and I am very overwhelmed also!!! Do you have family that can help you out? My two of my aunts are doing all the food for me that way it will not be as much to pay for. As for your dress have you looked on line at craigalist.org you can find just about any dress there for like nothing. I got mine off there for only 200 with everything I will need for it. What if you have your reception in someones back yard or in a park? For you photographer you could just go with out and just ask that everyone take pictures. You could even put cameras on all of the tables. Also when you go to craigslist look in the services area and somethings you can find people that are trying to start that business out and will do it for only like 100 or so. I hope this helps and good luck with everything that comes your way!

The 2 cheapest receptions I have seen around the OC. is Angelo's and Vinci's italian restaurant which was about $16 a person and included the cake with no rental fees or anything, and The Knott's Berry Farm Hotel which was about $25 a person. Both are actually really nice and not cheesy at all. As for the other stuff, try on craigslist to trade services or push back the date a bit. Good Luck!
