I just spent 4 hours searching for a FREE wed site provider. Geocities drove me nuts, (although it seemed like the best) 50megs is confusing, Angelfire lost me, webNG.com is so confusing I just deleted it. Myspace seemed to be on a general basis: dating/relationship/chat/journal/whatever level....so where do I go?I am completely lost when it comes to comprehending how to start a website! I need a website for "dummies" I guess!Does anyone know of a site that offers free web sites, easy to use, I don't understand HTML copy paste or whatever! Not a "blog" (unless you think that will work) but a website, where I can do whatever I want. Offer my business services (notary public, mailed legal forms, advice, ) With background templetes, sound, guestbook, counter and more?Anyone have a great website that was easily created? Share your site and knowledge for 10 points!

Websites are not free. You must purchase the domain name first. That' about 8 dollars a year.If you go to globat.com (or godaddy.com) (cheapest pretty reliable) you can get virtually unlimited hosting for 5 bucks a month. Hosting is the computer your website will live on.Next if you go to templatemonster.com you can pick from thousands of templates. Those templates range from 20 to 100 bucks. Then you will need to hire someone to upload the template and swap the general information out with your specific stuff. If you actually intend to sell merchandise online then you are opening up a whole new can of worms that i will not get into since you didn't mention it. If your site is strictly informative do not pay more than 200 dollars to anyone to for setting up your template. It should not take more than 4-6 hours for an experienced webmaster as long as you have your information together and you are not attempting to add some complex functionality. Counters, contact me forms and guestbooks are not complex - they are very easy. Alternatively, many hosting providers offer site building wizards you can click your way through to set up an even more basic site than the one mentioned above. Both providers i mentioned above also bluehost. I think godaddy.com may be the best overall for several reasons.I have not seen a decent ecommerce site built for less than 5,000. But the purpose you are describing could be done for less than a hundred bucks if an experienced person were working on it. It's probably going to cost you two to five hundred if you're serious.
