I don't think that is weird, I think it is kind of sweet actually. If I were you though, I would steer clear of calling this celebration a "wedding reception". Stick with 10th Anniversary Celebration. Think of it this way: how many people these days even make it to the ten year mark in their marriages? I think you definitely have reason to celebrate!

Not at all. Everyone loves a great party! Alot of people do this. To share it with everyone now I think would be great and special. It is not a thing of the past, it is the present and celebrating your love and sharing the day with everyone is great. Now that you can afford it go for it. If I was a guest I would be delighted to come. What are you waiting for? Get planning!!!

I think it would be great. Just call it a belated reception! I don't think it is a waste of money to do what you always dreamed of! I think it is a great idea that most people don't act of b/c they are chicken or think they don't deserve it. you deserve to have a formal celebration of your marriage it that's what you want!!

it is not usuall... but today you can do "unusuall" thing that they will remember.just say - it is for the 10th year of marriage...than you can do "as if"...and i saw a movie- after 50 years!and promise them to invite - after another 10 years!!!(if you have money ). you can do it as the beginning of family meeting.and don't do it very expensive. the meeting is the purpose.so that the people will know the others.

It will be wonderful... and I would be happy and excited for you, if I was one of the guests. As my Mom said: a wedding isn't just for you- it's for the whole family. Go for it!!!

I think it's really sweet and would jump at the chance to be invited. 10 years and still feeling romantic after all you've been through - you have my sincere blessing. Go for it girl!!

Not at all. I think it's a wonderful and romantic idea. If you want to spend the money on it, it's your perogative. Why wouldn't family & friends want to join you in the celebration? It's terriffic, romantic, and go for it anyway as it's what you want.....

A "belated wedding reception" would be weird and in poor taste. So would a vow renewal ceremony or re-run wedding "with all the trimmings."However, an "anniversary dinner-dance" would be lovely and appropriate, and it can be as formal as you wish. You can have a tiered cake, and photography, and many of the same celebration elements a reception would. Just don't present it as "this thing I missed out on 10 years ago and now I want it"-- that makes you sound a tiny bit sad and pathetic (I don't mean that to be negative, but just think about how others will perceive your message, you know?). Have a dignified and joyful "anniversary dinner-dance" or "anniversary banquet."(Piggybacking on someone else's comment: Do not put ANY mention of gifts in your invitations, even if it is to say you prefer none-- it is not proper.)

I think a 10th anniversary celebration is a cute idea. why not renew your vows that might make it easier for people to want to come, to help you celebrate as you continue your lives together. I always wish my hubby would want to have this kind of ceremony our first wedding was very low key and inexpensive, I'd love to have the chance to wear a pretty dress.

Just throw a party to celebrate your 10 years of marriage - don't actually throw a reception (and don't expect to get wedding gifts!)

You had the wedding you had and that's it. Whatever the circumstances were, that was your lot at the time. If you want to have a tenth anniversary party, do it, but keep it in perspective. Have a renewal of vows if you are church-goers, and a simple dinner party for close family and friends. You can't go back......You surely must be joking that you really want to do all the "traditional" things.... that's really crass....

I think it's a really sweet idea! But I would do it as more of a 10 year celebration party, or even go a bit farther and renew your vows. How fun! I wouldn't call it a wedding reception though. Good luck!
