I'm trying to save money for photography equipment? I don't want to go too pro with costs, because I'm not pro. Any advice?

50mm lens, tripod, body, a wide, a tele, a flash unit and off camera sync cable, maybe a zoomer, photoshop (if you feel the need) and that should do for starters. Difussers and reflectors you can make yourself.Goto say Ebay and price the above items.a

I was in about the same situation as you a couple of years ago. I started with a Canon 400D with the kit lens. If you can afford something better than the kit lens than get something better. 50mm 1.8 is an awsome lens for under $100. It's nice having zoom though. Sigma makes some decent 70-200mm lenses for under $800. The gear is expensive but it can pay for itself pretty quickly if you got the skills. I would avoid the super cheap zoom lenses though. You will go nowhere using them. You don't have to be a pro to make money from your photos either. This site will gladly sell your work. http://www.fotolia.com/partner/169859Amazon has excellent prices on gear. Check them out. http://astore.amazon.com/cappismyspacp-20

I suggest you start off by buying the Canon Rebel XTi kit. You can find it on B&H for $629.95 right now.http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/457541-REG/Canon_1236B001_EOS_Digital_Rebel_XTi.htmlThen get to know your camera. After you become comfortable with it, then start buying other accessories such as:- A lens made specifically for the type of photography you like to shoot ($300-$600 for a decent one)- A tripod ($50-$100 for a decent one)- External flash ($200-$500 for a decent one)I usually use B&H or Amazon... they have the best prices and I've never had any problems with them (E-bay is rather risky).Good luck!
