I found a gold halter top dress I wore once years ago when my fiance and I first started dating to... homecoming maybe? Well, my mom paid a fortune for it, and I'd hate to throw it out, not to mention I am DYING to wear it again! My fiance says he doesn't mind me wearing it instead of a wedding dress to our wedding, but I was wondering what everyone else thought. If I don't wear it I'm going to try to sell it, but I'd really like to wear it. We aren't having a traditional wedding, we're eloping. He's wearing a navy suit that has a green shirt. Will the dress go with this? Or should I just look at wedding dresses? If I had a picture of the dress I'd post it, but my camera broke the other day ... What do you guys think?**Please only HELPFUL answers**The whole "real" wedding gown thing has made me realize that I don't care whether or not I wear a white dress or an old prom dress as long as I get to marry the man I love. I'd get married in jeans and a t-shirt if we weren't so set on having beautiful pictures made of our day! I have two other dresses, but I'm not even sure these will fit me anymore, I know the gold one does... I found it and just had to try it on! |

Hey girl. If you like the dress, and it is pretty and he likes it also then you should wear it. Good luck with your up-coming marriage. May God bless the two of you.

a wedding dress should mean something special to thebride. this one sounds like it has all the bases covered.if you had been going to wear it to someone else's weddingi would have said no. a guest should never outshine thebride.

I only have one reservation - will you be disappointed if you don't have a "real" wedding gown? I don't care what dress you wear, but it would suck if 6 months from now you really wished you wore something else. However, it sounds beautiful and I'm sure you'll look great in it.

I love hearing sane people make use of clothes they love :)YES! Wear this gold dress you so want to wear again. The traditional white dress is overrated and way too much money to spend, especially if you're going to elope.Yes, the most important part is the getting married part!!!Congrats

Sounds fantastic! Be unique and if the dress has a special significance, even better! I am getting my dress in either regular or hot pink since I don't like the whole "bride wears white" tradition. Pink is my signature color (I wear it EVERY day) and I want to wear it even though my family tells me I'm crazy!

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
Wedding Music
Music for your wedding ceremony could consist of live or recorded performances.
Wedding Photography
Pictures are priceless, and you want to be sure you have plenty of good pictures of your special day.
Wedding Favors
Some brides don’t like the idea of giving gifts to her guests, but we think it’s a nice gesture as a thank you...
Wedding Food
Wedding food can take a huge chunk out of your wedding budget.
Wedding Cake
Your wedding cake is the centerpiece of the reception. It is a scrumptious dessert as well as part of a tradition
Wedding Party
The question of whether or not to serve alcohol at your wedding is one that can cause dissension in the ranks of family.
