Wow, you got beat up on this one! Hello ladies! Can you say "recession?" Damn! I don't know why people have to go broke so nobody calls them (gasp!) "tacky" or "rude." If people think I'm going to dump a ton of money on one day so nobody calls me names, they shouldn't be there, and they are not my friend! I'd be glad to see them disassociate from me! I don't understand why it's expected to treat guests as royalty! If I invite someone to share my special day with me, then they must be pretty close to me, and know damed well I'm not loaded or would ever try to keep up with the Jone's! If I were invited to the wedding of someone close to me, I'd be flattered, show up with a gift, expect to pay for my own drinks, and would be glad to pay for my own meal. I'd even be sure to send them any great pictures I took of their wedding! Anyway, I think what I would do is let everyone know by word of mouth. Call or have your parents or siblings call everyone to confirm they are coming (or some other excuse for calling) and let them know there will be cake and champagne at the restaurant, meals aren't included but are optional. They should get the hint. That poem is pretty cute too if you haven't sent invitations (if you are sending them). Good Luck! I'll be expecting my thumbs down counter to be pretty high! Tacky people don't care! LOL!
