You cna use royal icing, but it would be very sweet. You should probably use 'hard icing, i call it. You mix very little milk, like, a teaspoon or two, and double bil that with one cup of icing sugar. It tastes good.

You can use royal icing on buns and cakes. Just get the icing powder add 1 tsp of dried egg whites and mix with water until its in a gooey paste. Add coloring to make it pretty!!

1 stick (4oz) Butter, softened1 1/2 cups (350ml) Confectioner's sugar3 oz Cream Cheese, softened1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract1/4 Teaspoon saltBeat all ingredients together with an electric mixer. This makes a proper icing for things such as Cinnamon Buns, Hot Cross Buns, Fairy Cakes etc.Royal icing could be used but it dries hard, and doesn't really enhance flavour of Fairy Cakes.

Icing is very simple, just mix icing sugar and water in this ratio:If you have 500g of sugar, then you use 500ml of water. Couldn't be simpler!!!You can take a teaspoon of water and substitute it for lemon juice if you like lemon flavoured icing.
