I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and a Panasonic VDR D220. The camera records to a DVD disk.I want to put my wedding video on my computer and then upload it to a website like youtube, megavideo, veoh, etc to easily share the video link with friends and family from different countries.I DO NOT have FIREWIRE and I have already finalized the disk.I have tried using DVD decrypter and I get the files from the computer to be in .vob format, but I don't know how to manage that video file for uploading.I know that there are programs for sale out there, but I already bought the camera and I took my own video so I would like to be able to put it on my hard drive without having to buy another program.Any suggestions? Not a big fan of handbrake. It always stopped converting after about 7%. Kate converter did not work either.I found it easier to copy the VOB file and put it into Intervideo WinDVD Creator. But thanks for the input.

You've already done most the work, since the disk is finalized. You can download Handbrake, a free program that takes video files from DVDs to get the files onto your computer. It's available for download from http://handbrake.fr/Once the files are on your computer, you can either use Windows Movie Maker or other video editing software to edit it.

Don't use DVD decrypter software if you downloaded it from the internet free!!! I did that and it f*ed up my computer for eternity and gives it viruses while your virus protection software can't rid of it. That is how I ended up with this new computer because that killed my other computer. There is a start there. So, if you have that on your hard drive, get rid of it. It also slows down your computer while messing everything else up to perform properly. Everything is going to tell you, you need a firewire, but most of the time you don't if you have an up to date system. Well, normally you can hook up a USB cable to your camcorder to your hard drive and your windows software will automatically detect it. Have you tried that? Here is a website on how to import video files to your hard drive from a camcorder:http://www.deskshare.com/help/vem/ImportingFromDVCamera.aspxI hope I helped!!!

You don't use Firewire or USB for a mini DVD camera. If you have a mini dvd camcorder….You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer 's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (i downloaded handbrake file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

Try Prism or Kates (free)- google, download and open- set output folder for converted files- set output format/resolution - insert dvd to pc drive- add .vob files - click convert... converted files are saved to pc folder
