She's 38 weeks wed. She woke up this morning with a small puddle under her in the bed. Its clear, doesn't smell like urine, and she's been having to change a panty liner every hour since then. Her doctor is 2 hours away because there are some complications with the baby. I'm guessing we shoud wait and see if its still happening in the morning and just go to her old OBGYN in town and let him check and see. Can anyone tell me if this is really her water or is most likely urine or discharge.

This def. sounds like her water broke! It doesn't always all come out at once. I would at least call the dr. & let them know & see what they want her to do. They'll probably tell her to go to the hospital though.

When my water broke it was like an endless waterfall coming out!! It was a gigantic puddle LOL However... every woman is different. Some women leak fluid as opposed to gushing fluid so I advise your sister to head to the doc first thing in the AM. They have a test that will prove if it's her water or not. I was already 4 cm dilated when my water broke and well into contractions.. so if she starts having contractions soon, I'd almost guarantee it is her water.

With both my girls, I felt a little "crick" and then a very small leak for several hours. If the baby is really "engaged" then it won't gush. If she's changing every hour then YES.
