The guy that I have been "kind of" seeing asked me to his best friend's wedding, giving me 2 weeks notice. He is the best man. Do I need to bring a gift with me to the wedding?

No, you don't. You're a guest of a guest, and your presence at this happy event is all the present the couple need.

No, you aren't required to bring a gift as someone's date. It is the responsiblity of your date (the person invited) to bring a gift. All you have to worry about is making sure you look presentable and to make sure you are friendly and mingle with his friends.

I don't think you necessarily NEED to bring a gift. Maybe if you had time and the money, something small. But I don't think it's expected of you. A card for sure!!

If you feel compelled to do so. Otherwise, take a card wishing the couple well.

Hmmm. Awkward situation. You're "kind of" seeing this guy, which means you're probably not close enough for him to add your name to the gift and/or card. And if you bring a gift and/or card with just your name, they will probably have no idea who it's from, because they won't recognize your name.So I would say no, no gift or card. If thing work out with and the "kind of" guy, maybe you can get them something nice on their first anniversary.

no, i don't think you do. as a nice gesture you could give them a card, but you aren't obligated. my guess is you hardly know them.

Assuming that you have met the best friend, a card would be enough. You don't need to take a gift.

No, unless you know the couple really well.

Why are you even going? I don't mean to be rude - but do you even know the couple? I would just feel awkward going to a wedding when my 'kind of' partner is going to be the best man. You are going to feel like an outsider unless you know a lot of the family and friends because he will have too much other things to do than be with you.Anyway, personally I would bring a gift - but the gift would be a joint gift from both you and your partner. If he has already bought something then maybe you can just give him some money towards it and put your name on the card. I don't agree with the others who say that you don't need to give a gift. You are going to the wedding right? You are eating the food right? They will be arranging seating for you and a favour right? So the fact that they are doing this for you would suggest to me that ettiquette would require you to bring at least a small gift - just to say thank you.

Etiquette says no, you don't need to bring a gift. You are a guest of a wedding attendant. And you don't know the bride and groom. And even if you did, it may have only been a short time. You said you're "kind of" seeing the guy. Go, have a good time! Enjoy yourself!
