Im looking to get into the wedding dress sales, Ive done some wedding planning for people but really like helping the Bride find her dream dress. But I wondering if brides would feel uncomfortable with a man helping them? How would you feel?

I think most women would be a bit wary of a man's fashion sense. And... in most bridal salons a person needs to be available to assist the bride to be in and out of the dresses. It's doubtful that many women would be comfortable with a man seeing them in undergarments to help them try on dresses.

I would feel uncomfortable if a man was helping me in and out of the dresses I was trying on. A friend of mine got married a few years back and the bridesmaid dresses we wore were from a shop that was owned by a man and his wife. The guy was outside the dressing room curtain the whole time we were trying on dresses and he could see in if he wanted to--it was kind of creepy.

I think I would be ok with a guy doing it, cause girls are caddy. As long as the guy isnt coming in there when I'm half naked trying to help me lace up, lol.

It would be unusual, but you can certainly make it work. Personally, I would trust a male more if he was knowledgeable and not overbearing, the same qualities I appreciate in a female salesperson. If you are too flamboyant and ooh & ahh too much over the bride, you will come across as a phony. Just be yourself and be knowledgeable, and you will be fine.

I think it would be fine in a larger store. It may be a problem if it was just you or if there was only one woman in the store because there will be women uncomfortable with it. I think you would fine enough women willing to deal with a man as long as there were other options. Some would prefer it because some women get way to into it for the more relaxed brides. I am not sure how to put this nicely, but if you seem gay they may be more recpetive. It isn't right, but thats the way it is. Don't put on a big show though, even if you are as straight as they come and never set off anyone gay-dar, if you are good at what you do you should be fine.

Personally, I would much rather have a man's opinion on those types of things. Girls tend to stick together and they will be the first to tell a bride that she looks beautiful even if she looks like she just fell into a huge pile of ice cream. Men are more practical thinkers and generally give practical, fully honest opinions instead of trying to spare a bride's feelings. I would rather have someone tell me that I need to find another style of dress than to buy one and regret the wedding photos for the rest of my life. I think it would be a great idea for you to become a wedding consultant. I'd hire you.

I would be uncomfortable with a male helping me get dressed and undressed. Plus a woman would know how it feels to be a woman, meaning all the troubles with boobs hanging out or finding something to bring out curves and "tucking""things" in the right places. When I tried on my gown, my consultant said that sometimes they are required to try on some wedding dresses, because some are very heavy and to feel the types of fabric and to get the feel for them so when customers try the dresses on they can help them better.
