My fiances parents have opened their home to me and had me live with them for the last two years while I have been going to school (my family is from another state). After our September wedding, I am going to join my fiance in New York and move away from their Ohio home. I need suggestions on what to get them as a thank you. They would never let me pay them rent and they have been incredibly generous, I want to give them something meaningful.Thank you!!  |

| Get them a beautiful dried (fake) flower arrangement for their house or a beautiful silver tray for serving. You could also get them sterling silver dinnerware or pretty plates. |

| If that were me, I would sit down and write a very sincere letter to them thanking them for letting you stay with them and how much it meant to you and put it in a nice thank you card. Folks like that have hearts of gold and don't like to be "paid" for anything, so a nice heartfelt thank you will do the trick for them. |

| Well, since you said meaningful, and being a parent, I would just want to be kept in touch with, since you will be far away. Write or e-mail, and send pictures, and always try to get along. I know that doesn't sound like a gift, but it really is a long term one. Also, you could plan an anniversary party for them, when the time rolls around, or something like that. Seriously, though, I would just be a good wife/daughter-in-law, and be grateful for such good inlaws. |

| You could commission a portrait of them by a talented artist using a favorite photo of theirs. It would be meaningful and lasting. Give them a handwritten card expressing your gratitude and your joy in joining their family. |

| Depends how much you can spend.I'd try to get them a big plasma tvor a really nice dvd recorder (if they havent GOT these things, yet --it would really seem wonderful to them, luxurious!other poss's include a new bbq for him, and a _____for her....these need to be things theyd LOVE to have, but wont generally let themselves spend on. Things theyd be excited to have. ((Men get really attached to things, they L:OVE a fine tool ofr an item (like the bbq or the ... so for him at least it should be easy to know what))You've lived with them for 2 years. you MUST know what...__________________________-Along with that I'd include some heart felt words and a picture of you all together in a frame....So thats rewarding AND meaningful!(((PS-dont overspend, theyd never be able to enjoy it))) |

| Have you thought of a photo of you & your partner. In a nice frame done properly. Or something from the heart a poem or something. |

| Try getting them a vacation somewhere. I also recommend giving them a gift certificate to a real real nice place. Spa for a day. there is soo much you can do. Then maker sure you never forget when there Birthday is and other important events. including all holiday.Invite them to stay with you and visit and give them great treatment.One last thing is listen to what your heart tells you to do. That usually makes the whole thing seem real to them.M |
