How much do event planners charge for general events, such as birthday parties and fundraisers and such? Also, how much do wedding planners charge for coordination and planning? Or consultations? Etcetera?I live in Georgia, USA.I just want a general idea. I have called around my local area and they want all of the specifics that I do not know yet (the birthday party isn't until October and the wedding next year), so I am simply trying to see if MAYBE it would be in my budget.Just general prices I guess as I realize different area's would have different prices. Also, could I hire a planner from long distance for a wedding? How does that pricing work? Thanks!

It is usually calculated as a percentage of the total cost of the event. Let's say it's 15%. The charge for a $10,000 event would be $1,500.

For a wedding, ten percent of the budget is standard.
