A bed and breakfast?Cross country skiing at a nearby resort?Be tourists in a nearby city -- get a nice hotel room and when you do venture out go to whatever winter things are happening that you and your groom would like: ice skating; movies; theater; concert; maybe one sporting event; galleries; nice restaurants or get adventurous with ethnic ones.Or if it is not the holidays or high season you might be able to book a lodge at a ski resort that is not too far away (hard to do this when I do not know where you are from) now but you can be tourists of the town there -- check out their restaurants and theaters and even local sports -- many towns have hockey teams or indoor football. The rest of the time you will have a lodge with a roaring fire to simply be together.

depends on where you are located-and what you want-hot weather/cold weather? Airline in Dec. is expensive regardless of where you are going. Las Vegas could be fun-Grand Canyon-I went to Hawaii (Oahu) in January-lovely weather-airfare was about 1200 for 2 but I would suggest going to Maui( much nicer and cheaper)--Have you heard of those free stays at places like the Tahitit Village for couples? You get three or four free nights in Vegas and tickets to a show on the strip for free-you just have to go to one of their timeshare seminars that last 1-2 hours one of the days you are there

Come to Alberta! Banff or Jasper in the winter is stunning! The mountains are breath-taking. You'll want to fly in to Calgary or Edmonton and take a train to one of those communities. Weather in December is iffy and you don't want to be driving in the mountains in a blizzard if you've never done it.

Depends where you are from In Australia you can go to Thailand or Fiji for about a grand each which is really awesome! If you are from the US or Canada then usually Mexico is pretty cheap and the best time to go is in the winter! If you are looking for something even cheaper than California is always fairly nice weather wise or you can live out the full winter experience and go to whistler and stay in the mountains ..how romantic would that be?? Banff is amazing to, that's where my husband proposed so we make sure we go back often when we are in Canada! |

Local warmer climate, somewhere in driving distance. Otherwise, go to the mountains and get cozy by the fire at a ski lodge.

You don't say where in CA, but there is soooooo much to do out there. If you are in Northern CA, see if you can get a deal on a ski resort. If you leave on Sunday and come back before the pricy weekend rates kick in, it should be relatively affordable. If you're around LA, I'd personally take a week off and be a tourist in my own home town. People tend to take it for granted that all those tourist things will always be there, so they never get around to seeing them...like a person in NYC whose never seen the Statue of Liberty, or someone in Chicago whose never been to the top of the Sears Tower. So do a studio tour, take a bus tour of the homes of the stars, have dinner at a really expensive restaurant (on a weeknight, when it's easier to get a reservation). Go to a comedy club a Lakers game.If you're in Southern/Central CA, head out to Vegas for a few days. Again, as long as you steer clear of the weekend hotel rates, you should be able to do it pretty cheap. And it's close enough to drive, so you won't spend a fortune on airfare. We're going in August and staying at the Luxor. I pasted a link to their pricing for December. It looks like the middle of the month is really cheap! $90 for a room in Vegas on a Friday/Saturday night is a STEAL!!!Good luck, have fun and congratulations on your wedding!
