For your first couple jobs, how much did you guys charge to photograph a wedding?
How long have you being in the field and how uch do you charge now?
First Job: $300
Currently: $400-$450 (3 years exp.)
Fairly inexpensive I feel..... |

Pricing is always different from photographer to photographer. Many start too low though.
I started back in 1990... and at that time, I charged $700 for a full-day wedding. Today, most of my clients book me in the $3500 to $5000 range for a full-day wedding. Some of these bookings include albums and others do not.
Depending on your geographical location, pricing can be quite different. The key here though is that if you price your services way too low, it's hard to crawl out of that rut.
I suggest checking out your local competition and seeing what the norm is. Price your services in accordance to that and offer similar ranges of services.
Obviously, the more experienced you are, the more you can command. But there's no reason to do a wedding for virtually no pay. Whereas you might think you'll get more business because your price is low does not mean you'll stay in business because you'll make little profit. |

| There is something to be said for the family/friend discount though. I wouldn't want to charge people full price to take pictures at their wedding if I was going to be there anyway, but I wouldn't want them to take advantage of that fact either and get the pictures for free. |

| my first 2 weddings were for free.. than i started slowly with about 300$/wedding. i got a big contract a couple of weeks ago for 1200$ but it had numerous guests there and i had to bring someone with me and pay him for that. in average, i get like 400-500$/wedding. |
