http://www.shots.co.nzSteve is New Zealand's most expensive wedding photographer. He's also recognized by NZIPP (New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography) as New Zealand's top photographer having taken home a multitude of gold awards. On a scale of 1 - 10, I rate him about 11.5 and I rate myself compared to him as nothing - http://www.straightshots.co.nzThe site you're rating is www.shots.co.nzHaha ok - that part about me being nothing - I know that's not true. I was just trying to stress how much I love Steve's images. But I know I'll be New Zealand's top wedding photographer one day... by the way, seamless, are you Vance? And are you a gal? If you are, sorry to have always thought you were a guy - you're avitar kind of gave me the wrong impression :-)Thanks everyone for the input. I had my thoughts about Steve's photography but I wanted to see what everyone else thought before I open my mouth. I'll talk about it in f-stops here after I delete this question - don't want Steve to actually see it... he lives in my area.

He has GREAT photoshop skills, but his photography doesn't really stand out to me. It looks like every other good wedding photographer I've seen. He has good talent, but so do a lot of other people. The only reason I would pay for him rather than another photographer is because of his photoshop skills.I'd rate him a 7

ok shots is the one you want comments on??ok the shots lack any real exposure - they arent "vivid" - the colours are dull and poorly exposed, there is a lack of texture in most of the whites and blackspeople will say that antoni is an idiot you can fix that in photoshop.......if you can why didnt he??? you cant "fix" texture if its not there...due to poor exposureso as a shooter i dont rate him highly his shots lack the impact of well exposed or vivid colours images, as a shooter maybe 5/10pre production/idea inception quite good 7-8/10post preduction/photoshop/editing, whatever phrase people use, i use "post" - theres pre, the shoot/shoots, then post. So post rate him highly 9/10 - the awards certainly are earnt, some of the images are stunning, many are soft and lack texture and the colours are weak, respect hes combined good decision making with an abillty in photoshop to rise to the top of his field, i do like his work, but not his style,,,,,,,, that doesnt mean i dont respect hes making some great images there. Edit: http://yervant.com/wedding.htmdont know about our neighbour hood Vance?, certainly a top artist, outstanding work. http://www.collective.net.nz/pages/wedding13.htmla

Torrey, frankly, he's very good but staid in style. How you rate yourself is your self-esteem problem .Down there in your neighborhood, just a splash south, is Yervant. What do you think of him? (By the way, you now have a complete answer to your question).Since I don't shoot weddings, I get to have an unbiased (Yeah, right) opinion. My dog's not in this fight.VanceAntoni - Yervant is a favorite of mine for wedding photography. |

I agree with Erin, that he has really great photoshop skills... I am much impressed with a photographer that can present pix un-edited... Taking pictures for me is like a painting that you have to capture by the proper lighting, angles, and creativity as is... As my mentor said, God created things beautiful and we simply capture them...Cheers!

He's a great photographer... No doubting that. I also like his layout work: understated elegance. I wouldn't put him at the very top of the class... for me that goes to names like David Beckstead, Joe Photo, and yes I'd throw Yervant in there too.No question he's got skills though.

I think he is talented, but not THAT talented. if you would look at my favorite people...http://www.theimageisfound.comor a beginnerhttp://www.jandraphotography.comI think that he is being overpaid if he is the best. He has a couple good shots. But I have found photoshop flaws in some of his featured work. Not a very professional mistake. Although, I am not saying they shoot pooringly. Maybe they lack originality. The key is to find your nich and not copy someone else, as well as making sure what you provide IS high quality.

the first photo needs to be closer up. if the point of interest is the couple then a close up by at least 4 times is needed, most of the album is not bad work, this photographer has some knowlege and in time I think they will become a good photographer. If that photographer can always ask themselves what is the point of interest and focus on that, all other things will fall into place. I don't want rate I hate to rate for not all things can be added or given a summary

Well, I see you got an endorsement for Asuka Books."Asuka Books are also only available to professional photographers. These beautiful coffee table style books are stitch bound with heavy weight gloss or matte pages."His on-line stuff is very dramatic and I'm sure some people want to feel like Elvira Madigan or something, so they would like it. I'm not sure it's for everyone, though.I didn't see any of those dramatic "one color amidst the greyscale" that you have included, though, so you are clearly up with the trends. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) Don't be so hard on yourself.
