Im wondering if this dress would be appropriate for a July wedding in Upstate NY? Ceremony at 2 - Reception at 5:30. I haven't been to a wedding since I was a very young and it gives no indication on the invitation. Its going to be fairly warm ( mid 70's). I would also be wearing a either a cream or brown cover up . Ive had a hard time finding something other than white, black or yellow (bridesmaids color) and wanted something that was nice yet for summer. And should you change between ceremony & reception? Any thoughts are appreciated. I already bought the dress and the wedding is Sat! Its is a cream color not white. Other wise i have a black dress or a white w/ black polka dots as a last resort.http://www.bcbg.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2988983&cp=2769162.2768993&view=all&clickid=cat_leftnav_txt&parentPage=familyIt a Catholic ceremony and from what i can tel the reception is at a nice place but nothing super fancy.

I think for a catholic ceremony as long as you have something over your shoulders for the service the dress would be fine. Then when you get to the reception and you can take the wrap off and glam up a bit. I see no reason to change clothes between. If they don't have anything on their invitation then it isn't super formal and this dress will be perfect for the occasion.

Please don't wear that dress, it's WAY too casual.Consider one of these dresses:http://www.anntaylor.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=15422&N=1200003&pCategoryId=101&categoryId=180&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_180&defaultColorNameFromCategory=Cerise&defaultSizeTypeFromCategory=Misseshttp://www.anntaylor.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=14135&No=30&pCategoryId=101&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_180&N=1200003&Nty=1&categoryId=180&defaultColorNameFromCategory=Iridescent%20Teal&defaultSizeTypeFromCategory=MissesGood luck!

very nice job! This dress is perfect for being a guest at a wedding!!! It's not too over the top but still cute and summer like. With a wrap over it for the ceremony you should be good to go! It should work very nicely. If your still concerned then call up the bride, groom, one of the mothers, or bridesmaids to come over and see it.But I think it's perfect for a summer wedding in NY.Have fun!

I think it is beautiful and elegant -- especially with a brown or cream wrap. It would be my choice over black or polka dot.

i personally don't think the strapless is appropriate. .especially in a catholic church. i live in upstate ny too and it doesn't get THAT hot in july that you couldn't wear something with straps. or maybe like the 1st person said you could just wear a shawl or jacket or something over it. that might just be my opinion though. i have a feeling i'll get lots of thumbs down for this, but you asked for our opinions, so i'm just telling you how i personally feel. if you are comfortable in it though, you should wear it. it's very cute.

As long as you're wearing a wrap in church, I think it's appropriate for a wedding. It's not overly revealing or too short. And the pattern is perfect for light, summery fun.
