I have ordered some starfish an sand dollars off ebay to place on the dinner tables around the candles..we want to play a slide show or video of the wedding itself...should we still do the toasts and everything?? or not.should we have our friends/family stand up and say things about the both of us?? instead?I want to make a shutterfly book and place it on the table next to the guest book of our story how we met up to getting married...what other unique ideas could or should i do/consider? |

I have two ideas for you, both of which might replace or partner with your guest book. I have been to a wedding where they had a large photo of the bride and groom with a large mat surrounding in which the guests all signed and congratulated on. This now hangs in their bedroom 5 years later . I have also been to a wedding in which they had someone take poloriod pictures of everyone that attended, the guests then signed and congratulated on the bottom of the pic, and the pic was attached to their guest book. Also, I say yes, still have them toast you and give speeches. Those are separate from the book and slide show. I actually enjoy the stories you hear from siblings, parents, close friends. For my wedding I had no idea what was going to be said, and all of our siblings gave such wonderful, touching, even funny speeches. And then some guests surprised everyone asking for the mic to say their own stories, it was fun.Congrats! |

| I was just at a wedding and thought this was cute, she had a little area set aside for the kids with puzzels, coloring books, balloons, mardi gras masks, blow up guitars & microphones, it was a lot of fun for the kids and kept them busy.I also went to a reception a few years ago that the couple had a destination wedding months before. They had a tv in the corner that ran the tape of their nuptuals over and over again so that the guests could see it. That was a nice thing.I don't think you need the toast, unless you are going to designate a best man or maid of honor, then that could be something they could do. |

| To add just a little to your slide show...what I did for my daughter's wedding was I had collected photos of the bride and groom from birth up to their engagement...I would alternate the bride's birth picture then the groom's...and with each step through their lives I would try to match their photos...one at christmas the other at christmas...one on a swing the other on something similar...We put music in the background that complimented their relationship...You can just set it up for auto and it will entertain your guest...It was one of the highlights because they didn't know which pictures were going to be used...You know the real "cute ones"...silly ones...and in love... It was very successful...Hope this helps...HH |
