I fell in love with Maggie's Grace Kelly wedding dress but it costs 850 dollars at the shop and they won't go down. It's so perfect for me though, in every way and I feel pretty in it. This is more than I wanted to spend, but it does include all alterations. They have a dress on sale that is kinda similair but its from last years line so it doesn't include free alterations. It's 600 dollars and while its very nice, I just don't feel as good in the other dress as I do in this one. I'm not very confident in my looks so when I feel pretty in something, it is something special but then again, is that pretty feeling worth the extra money when I have to buy a house, a new car that I reall really need and keep paying for grad school, plus the honeymoon too! What did you do/would do in my shoes?

go with the more expensive one. Ocne you get all the alterations on the less expensive one it will cost the same as the one you like with free alterations. It is your day splurge.

Get the cheaper one if you would be content with it. What's the point in splurging on a really pricey dress if it's just for one day, and if the cheaper dress would make you happy enough? Think what you could do with the money you saved...

If its 850 WITH alterations I would go with that one. You might regret it if you don't. The other one is cheaper but doesnt include alterations..hmm..by the time you get alterations done you could be paying more than you would like and not get the dress you love. You might as well buy the one you are craving. Not only is it the dress you really want but it could be cheaper in the long run

If it is your wedding get the more expensive dress. By the time you pay for alterations for the other one it will come out the same. Besides it is YOUR day, you should look and feel your best. There are times in life when you need to treat yourself and this is one of them.

Think of it this way - how much would you spend in getting alterations done on last year's model? If the more expensive dress has free alterations, then the difference between the two dresses would be the difference between the less expensive dress + alterations and the more expensive dress. Plus you do not want to look back in regret and wish that you had gotten the more expensive dress that you loved. In reality, $250 isn't that much money and think of how happy you will be feeling pretty!

I ended up paying and extra $120-140 for alterations on my wedding dress. The price goes by what needs to be altered. Why don't you ask the seamstress what would need to be done to the cheaper one, and get a price for alterations. This way you have a better idea on the price for each, and if there is not much of a difference, you can get the one you really want.

This is your wedding day, this is something that happens once in your life. I made the decision that I was not going to even look at the price until after I had the dresses on, and I am not rich or well off financially by any means. You will know when you get "the dress" on. The very first dress I tried on was the one. I got chills when I saw myself in it, and my mom started crying. The price tag was $649 which was more than I had expected to pay but I decided that having the perfect dress was worth the money. I spent over $1200 on my outfit in total for the day but I would not change a thing. It's not about how much the dress cost, its about it being what you want and what you feel comfortable in. This is probably one of the most important days of your life, do not feel bad if you splurge on your dress!

I'd definitely get the more expensive one. $250 is not that much of a difference. I'm the same as you that I don't find many dresses that I feel pretty in, so for one day in your life, if you're really in love with a dress that makes you feel good, get it!

Shop around for the dress you love. I found the Mori Lee dress of my dreams (normally around $1300) on ebay, brand new with tags for $250. I will have to pay for alterations, but I am having a private party do them so it will not be very costly.

I'd keep looking. I would not buy either of these dresses.Instead . . . I would continue shopping. I would look only at dresses that fit my budget. If the price tag did not fit my budget, I would not try on the gown. I am sure you can find another gown that fits the budget and makes you feel pretty too!Keep looking!Or . . . If the Grace Kelly gown is the gown of your dreams, you do have options.1. Find a talented seamstress. Have her make the gown for you. I had a coworker who did just that. Took a photo of her dream gown to a talented seamstress. Had the gown made for much less. It looked exactly like the picture.2. Or buy the Grace Kelly dream gown. Then sell it on ebay immediately after your honeymoon. That way, you can get some of your money back.Is this the gown?http://www.pizazzwedding.com/store/proddetail.php?prod=MSB-GraceKelly

If it means eating pasta with frozen veggies for a few weeks, I would splurge on the expensive one. But if it means using a credit card and no means to pay it back soon while the interest piles up, I would not do it. But basically yes, I would make every effort I could to upgrade 250 bucks. I might even clean out the closet and sell some stuff I dont really like anymore. Its your wedding dress, its worth it.
