I'm getting a wedding and reception package in another state and I don't know what my cake is going to look like other then it's small and traditional. I was thinking of buying a cake topper but I'm worried it would be to big or too small or just not look right. But I kind of want something to help take away some cookie cutter feel to my wedding? what do you think cake topper or don't risk it?my wedding is on july 23 of this year

I have never seen one that didn't look cheap.I had flowers and berries on mine instead of a topper, and it looked so elegant. But, if you go with flowers, tell your baker then order them with your bouquets so that they match and make sure you tell your florist that they are going on a cake so they don't put any chemicals on them!

A cake topper doesn't have to be generic. It doesn't have to be a "cake topper" at all. You can pick any nice sculpture (not too heavy) that makes you feel happy and reminds you of your love. About 6"-8" should fit most any cake. Maybe consider unusual material, such as wood or crystal Once it has served as your topper, you can use it as decoration in your home. It will always remind you of your wedding, without seeming like you have your "cake topper" on display. Best wishes on your wedding.

if you want a cake topper then get one. just give your venue a call and asked them how big the top tier is and see if they can send you a picture of how it will be done. then go shopping and find one that represents you and your future husband and compliments your cake. make sure it's not too heavy or if you do pick a heavy one, let your venue know, they should be able to add some dowls into the top to support it.most top tiers are a 6" round and most cake toppers are made to fit this but it wouldn't hurt to ask

Top it with fresh flowers that match your center pieces. Much classier and will tie the cake into the style of your wedding no matter what the cake looks like.

Cake toppers are so passe. Martha Stwart declarethem "ugly and unfashionable" many years ago. They were popular in the 60'f throught the 80's, but people do not do that anymore.I found cake toppers tacky. Gor for fresh or sugar flowers instead, but t the "voodoo doll" look has been out of style for several decades now.Good luck

I didn't have a cake topper, I had a figurine of two people embracing standing next to it with rose petals around it.

Hi. Is there a way that this company who you booked your wedding package with can email you a picture of the cakes that have been done for other weddings? I would think they would be able to. That way, you will be able to pick out a topper more easily. If for some reason they can't, I think I would get one anyway. Most cake toppers are made for the very top layer anyway, so they are smaller. Just pick out something you like and bring it with you!! I always think that this is an easy way to put your own flair on to the cake.

I would get one, maybe one on the smaller side to be safe. Or you could get some flowers and put then on top of the cake.

I think cake toppers can be cute and fun! I don't know what type of wedding you're having, but if you think a topper fits in with your style, go for it!
