So an idea that I would like to ask everyone's opinion. Again just an idea. Have a Ceramony as planned, but a non traditional reception. I am planning on having a nice dinner after the ceramony at a local resturaunt and the guests would pay for their dinner. The reason being is me and my fiancee are on a tight budget and we are moving out of state the month after. I have 5 kids we are moving with. Thank you in advance for your opinions. |

Buffet! People can choose what they want and get as much as they want. Also, sometimes if you call the buffet ahead of time, they'll reserve you an entire section for your party and offer a discount since you're coming in a group.Do you need ideas as to where to have your wedding as well? Courthouse is about as cheap as you can get, or you can go to a local park (if you don't have too many guests) and have it there.Decorations? Wal-Mart and Paper Warehouse (if they have one in your area).I bought my dress on eBay. |

| Sorry Sweetie, that is a major etiquette mistake. Tacky.Any other ideas? What about asking your friends to all prepare one dish. How many are you expecting, is this feasible? |

| I've never heard of being asked to pay for your own meal at a wedding reception. If you're on a tight budget I would recommend just having a cake reception after your ceremony, my roommate had one as they could not afford a dinner reception and it was very elegant. |

| You can ask for guests to pay for their own, but it would be more proper to pay for them yourselves. Try researching places and figuring out how much it would cost per head. I called around a few places and found an Indian Rest. that would've only been $10 a head. Take that number and then decide how many guests you can invite.I know it might sound like a lot of money, but honestly, these people are going to be giving you a gift (most likely money) that is worth more than whatever you payed for their meal. So it will actually end up paying for itself. |
