Hello All,I ordered 2 things from the bride-to-be's registry to give her as her wedding gift. Now, I need something to give her for her bridal shower. I was thinking of being creative and creating a basket for her with some things she may need/use for her honeymoon (candles, massage oil, bubble bath, etc.) What do you guys think of that idea? I made a basket for my niece's Sweet 15 b-day last month which included body sprays, perfume, lip-gloss, etc. and she loved it. Please don't be rude. If you don't like it, just say you don't like it.Thanks in advance,Brown Eyed Girl ;)Don't anyone bring wedding gifts to the reception anymore? I'm all confused. lolUnfortunately, I don't where the honeymoon will be. I'm assuming it's going to be someplace tropical cause she loves the beach! :DKatie S, you bring up a good point. I will have to think of something more appropriate to get her because I wouldn't want to embarrass her in front of her future in-laws. Thanks!

bridal shower gift = wedding gift = bridal registry items unless you want to make an extra effort and do the basket. I did that basket one time with spa items for the bridal shower but I felt like it was not received quite well as it was not in the registry list. The rest of the bridal shower guests gave items from the registry so I was a little embarrassed that time.

cute idea... the honeymoon basket.my mom got me this cookbook for my shower. it was called "Intercourse." it was a big hit of laughs at the shower... haven't had time to look through it. but i thought it was so unique. i know they won't use a cookbook on their honeymoon.. .but it is really cute. i'm sure you could prob find it on barnes-n-noble.com or something.also...if you know the place they are going to for their honeymoon...try to get in touch with them and see if you can get gift certificates for them for massages or something while they are out there.good luck!!props for trying to be creative :)all the best Smile

I love it, super cute and personalized. I got some of that stuff for my bridal shower and I loved it Smile It actually takes creativity rather than purchasing something off a list.. like a robot.

Here's the thing, A basket sounds very nice and like you put a lot of thought into it but I have to tell you I have an entire drawer full of unused candles, bubble bath, and lotions that people have given me for gifts over the last couple of years. it is a great thought, she just might not need it. If you want to do a basket, I would leave out bubble bath, lotion, body spray, things that peole get in gift baskets for christmas. Maybe get some margarita or wine glasses, creative food for the pantry or small things off of her registry.

If you know her VERY well, that idea might work. If not, I think you should just stick to the registry items.

A cute one is getting a huge salad dish with tongs and filling it with folded/crinkles dollar bills (or higher if you want) so that they look like lettuce. Depending on where they are going on their honeymoon, and it's out of the country, you could do it with currency of the country they are visiting.

It depends on the bride. I would personally find the massage oils a bit creepy, but I don't care to see lingerie at showers either. To me that is something personal that a couple should be purchasing for themselves. The lip gloss, perfume and spray ideas sound good though! Otherwise, I think kitchen towels, cookbooks and decor items are great.Best wishes!!!!!!!!!!Edited to add: It's a regional thing regarding gifts at the reception. Proper etiquette says you send the wedding gift in advance, but we've always brought gifts to the reception unless they were close relatives. Lately though, I've heard about people only giving gifts at the shower and that's a new one for me. I've always given something at both events.

My future mother in law got me something like that and I loved it. It was nice to get something different other than pots and pans and silverware. It was something for me. It had soaps, body spray, loofa, and a scented oil warmer. All from bath and body works in Japenese Cherry Blossom.I think it's a very nice idea.

Honestly, I would be really uncomfortable receiving a gift like that, especially in front of a big group of people (to include my future mother in law!). Please remember that while most 15 year old girls love just about all girly things, most adult women have a preferred brand or scent of lotions, oils, and candles. Though the intention is good, you may pick up something they wouldn't like, may be allergic to, or even worse...accidently pick up the groom's ex's scent! It's also a lot more fun for the bride and groom to pick out these things themselves as they think about their honeymoon, and how they envision it will be. You may have a totally different vision in mind that they do. If you want to contribute to the honeymoon in some way, give a Victoria's Secret gift card. Or, if you like the basket idea, make a basket of things from her registry (bathroom stuff, kitchen utensils, bakeware with recipes/cookbooks).EDIT: On behalf of all brides everywhere, PLEASE do not buy the groom boxer shorts!!!
