We are getting married in St.Lucia, October 2009. We decided to skip the bridesmaids and groomsmen, we're just going to marry and honeymoon alone and are thinking of having a reception when we get back. Just curious if anyone else has done this or knows someone who has because we need ideas about reception ideas, engagement party ideas, bachelor bachelorette parties, things like that. Pleas please help!! Just engaged 7/5/09!! |

| You do what is right for you, but for me, getting married without my family and friends there to celebrate with me, would make me feel sad. |

| My fiance and I were planning on getting married privately so that we could have the kind of ceremonial wedding we would prefer. But after much deliberation and the input from our families, we decided to have a ceremony and reception in town so that everyone could attend. To make up for sacrificing what we really wanted, we plan on having a separate ceremony afterwards with just the two of us.I have been to receptions where the bride and groom had had their ceremony out of the country or secluded somewhere, and it always turns out fine. Wedding these days aren't so entrenched in tradition; they tend to be much more personal and forgiving to the more creative people, which is really cool.I'm sure your friends and family would understand and support you! |

me and my fiancee are just recently engaged also, congrats to you guys! we also looked at the Weddingmoon package and it looks perfect for us, so intimate and personal. we were looking at one of the resorts in Jamaica i would have the reception after you get back (like the first or second week) maybe book a whole restaurant for a big private dinner with all your family and friends. good luck |

| For me, it would be happier and memorable if my family and closed friends will be there to witness and share that special day.For wedding destination, I really find beach as a romantic place both for the ceremony and honeymoon. |

| My hubby and I did this in Hawaii. It was not a first wedding for either of us, so we had already done the big family weddings previously and neither of us wanted that this time around. We extended the invitation to anyone who wanted to join us, basically knowing no one would, which was ok. We went on our own, got married and had our honeymoon exactly how and where we both wanted, and when we got back we had a reception (give yourself at least a couple of weeks to even a month after to allow for last minute planning). Since we went to Hawaii, we had a luau themed reception to bring some of the Hawaiian flavor back home, and had our photos and some video from our trip (including some from the ceremony) showing on a slideshow for everyone to see while they were there, to give them the feeling of sharing in our special day. Good luck, congratulations, and enjoy! |
