| I'm thinking of having my wedding and reception in a banquet type place. How do I successfully switch everything from the ceremony to the reception? And how do I decorate the place when there's all kinds of things they won't let us do? |

| after the wedding ceremony, have the guests go to a designated area (outside or another room) for a cocktail hour. during that time, the room can be changed. |

Our wedding reception will be in the same room as our Ceremony. The room will be set up "chapel" style for the ceremony and then everyone will exit to another, smaller "area" (I wouldn't call it a room, but it's not quite the entrance way of the reception building either) with a small bar set up for cocktail hour. During the cocktail hour/when we are having our pictures taken the staff will set up all the tables (11 long rectangle tables) for the dinner.Pictures should take about an hour so my wedding party and I will run upstairs to put the favors/name tags at each seat and make sure the table decor has been set up as specified by the venue staff. Then the room is opened for the reception to begin. Our head table will be in the middle of the room, so it will be moved to the side of the room a bit once the dancing starts after dinner, to clear the entire dance floor area for guests to dance.Hope that helps!PS: What won't they let you do? Our place has gorgeous exposed stone walls and wooden beams and two stone fireplaces so we aren't allowed to tape/stick anything to any wall surface, but we wouldn't want to! We rented the venue based on it's natural beauty. We are just using table runners to bring in our wedding colours (cranberry, gold and silver). The reception chairs are gold calvari wedding chairs and the favours will have gold and silver accents. Other than that, the venue will have some garland and wreaths in the windows and fireplaces (it's Christmas wedding) so we're good with very minimal decor. Just think of the money you'll save |

| See if they have an area for both, maybe outdoors or another room for the ceremony to be hold. then after the guests can more to the reception room. If they don't then maybe the guests can more to the bar for a cocktail hour while the room is re-set upFor decor, play up the centerpieces, chair covers, and cake, that's the big things you can do that they will always allow. |
