I'm planning a winter wedding for December and I just came up with an idea of not just sending out the invitations in a regular envelope but in a small box wrapped like a present. I just wanted some other people's opinion before I present it to my fiance. What do you think? (Oh, if you have any other tips or ideas for my winter wedding theme, please feel free to let me know). Thank-you.

I don't think it's a good idea only because some people may not open the box since they're not expecting a gift. I hope this makes sense. Instead, maybe you should choose invitations that have a winter theme. For example - icicles or snowflakes on the front. |

It's an adorable idea, but I'd definitely check with the postal service first to see how much it will cost and what their packaging rules/regulations are. The USPS has a 1-800 number that you can call to ask questions. Best wishes! Here's the number...1-800-ASK-USPS

that's going to be very very expensive, but a cute idea. problem is, you can't put something in the mail that has wrapping paper on the outside. so you'd have to wrap the box in whatever special patterned paper you want, and then wrap it in plain brown or white paper of some kind, and put the address on the outside.

Hi. I think your idea is cute....in theory. However, as a person who has mailed out many Christmas gifts (my family lives elsewhere), you will have to wrap your present (invite), and then put it into another box for mailing (brown box or one of the priority mail boxes you can get at the post office.)This will, of course, be very expensive. The other thing....since your wedding is in December, you will be sending your invites out in October?, so I don't know if your guests will really "get it." Of course, if this is what you want....it IS a cute idea.

It's a really cute idea, but like others have mentioned there are a couple issues:1. You can not have wrapping paper on the outside of a package that is sent by USPS or UPS.2. It would probably be fairly costly. Instead, what about having the envelope resemble wrapping paper?? As long as it fits size requirements I think that envelopes can be made out of anything. You can put al band of ribbon around each envelope and use Gift Tags in the Address Section.

Two things... first, one of the posters was right about having to put a box within a box (I work for a packaging co) otherwise your paper wrapping will be torn to shreds before it ever reaches the recipient. Second, make sure to put some sort of sticker on the outside of the inner box to let the recipient know to open immediately.Other than that I think that your idea is adorable. You could even make small christmas ornaments that had all the info on it to put inside the box.I wouldnt worry about the added expense unless you are having to send out 100 of them. On average you should be able to buy 100 3x3x3 gift boxes at a bulk store for under $20.00, then the outer shipping cartons for around $ .35/ea. Http://www.bagsandbowsonline.comGood luck

It's a good idea. But it could be really expensive. You should check with the post office to see how much it will cost. If it's too expensive, you could just do the envelopes to look like presents. But I like your idea.

It's a lovely idea except for the cost. You'd have to wrap the "present" box inside of a cardboard box for shipping purposes, then pay for all those cardboard packaging boxes as well as extraordinary shipping costs! I'd only recommend this if you're inviting under 20 guests or literally have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on your wedding. Cute though!
