So I finally found my wedding hall and set the date! YAY for us! So now I need help figuring out decorations... So the county we live in has very strict rules about candles, the have to be bottom heavy. Be inclosed shaped like a fishbowl effect and you must be able to lay tissue paper across the top of it while the candle is burning for ten seconds without the tissue igniting. So what kind of things could I do for my center pieces? I really wanted candles on top of mirrors. Please help!

You can buy battery-operated tealights or votives at the dollar store or any giftware store, even larger candles operated with batteries that flicker like candles. Then set them on mirrors like you wanted. Can't place a price on safety! Or if you're a purist and insist on real candles, go to a florist wholesaler and buy cheap glass vases for the candles, the roundish ones used for rosebowls, and set your votives inside those. You have to cut the wicks short so that the flames are low, that's the secret!

I agree! Buy the battery powered candles if you're insistant upon having candles. I would try rosebowls- or if you're really up for a challenge, consider having small individual wedding cakes on each table, this way your guests will have cake at the table instead of waiting in line and having to ask people to stand and cut cake for an hour.

You still can. Just burn the candles at home for a few hours before the wedding to get the wicks low enough that the tissue will not ignite. Basically they are outlawing things like tapers and some votives. But you can still have tealights, pillars, round candles...etc.

I saw a fishbowl with pretty rocks in it and two goldfish swimming in it for the center piece at a wedding once and even though it sounds kind of kiddish, it really was cool. And then someone from each table to the bowl/fish home later. I had candles at mine, so I totally empathize with you wanting them. Maybe splurge on some nicer flower centerpieces since you can't have the candles like you want.Congrats and Good Luck
