Hi, new on forum please go easy !
I have started a business selling cars on eBay. I'm renting a warehouse type unit and have tried to build a photo area in one corner. I'm having problems getting decent images, the unit is lit by rows of fluorescent lights (4 rows of 6 lights) and there is only 1 switch so they are all off or all on. When there on I get horrible reflections of them from the car i'm shooting.
I'm thinking it would be better to keep them all off and light my car myself but not sure what lighting equipment to buy as i'm quite inexperienced. I'm using a Canon Powershot S70 on a tripod.
Any advice would be appreciated on this. |

Besides the photos being taken outside, you could get yourself a lighting kit which has enough power to negate the effects of the flourescent lights, but you'd just introduce other reflections.
Reflections aren't all bad though. It will give the impression of the cars being "shiny" as opposed to flat looking. But where the reflections hit is the key to making the image look good or not.
An inexpensive kit (relatively speaking) you can consider is made by Alien Bees. Check them out at www.alienbees.com |

| If nothing else, you can use the headlights from other cars as lighting. Aim them how you want and you're good to go. The only downside is that you can't control how bright they are without putting something such as coffee filter's in front of the lights. |
