top and bottom in the color the bride says. They have a new color out this season called cabernet. It's the closest shade to burgandy that I want, but they have only one dress that color. The others are mix and match pieces. Has anyone let their girls do a mix and match or do you select the top and the skirt so everyone looks the same? How did the pictures look if everyone was in different attire? Can I say pick any top and any of the long skirts? ALSO - Will this color be around for a while, or is it likely to be for just this season? Thanks!

When my niece got married her bridesmaids wore the same color but had various tops. They looked great. I think the biggest advantage to this is that the bridesmaid can select the top which is most flattering for her. And because they're all one color they are all coordinated. Congrats!

I recently saw photos from a wedding where the bridesmaids all wore black, but each dress was different. Actually the ladies were all stunning because they had a dress that flattered each of them. I think it's an awesome concept and give those brides a great deal of credit for being flexible instead of the usual control freak. I'd still have to approve the top they chose if I were you because you never know what you'll get into if you don't. Guess all of us have a little control freak in us, huh? Smile Cabernet (or some version) comes and goes, but will never disappear totally. However, I live near a major university that has maroon as their school color. We will "bleed maroon" forever, so I don't know about the rest of the country. It's a beautiful color though, so probably will stay around in some form. Best wishes!

We didn't do this for our wedding, but I've seen it done, and it can look just fabulous! I think most often, the same skirt is chosen, with different tops. That way, a bustier woman isn't stuck with a strapless top, and can get something she's more comfy in, for example. With one BM having sleeves, one with sleeveless, one with a jacket, one with spaghetti straps - it's amazing how well put-together it all looks. I think it's a very nice option.

My friends wedding all the girls wore blue dresses but they were all different dresses they also carried different bouquet. I think that you should pick the skirt and let the bridesmaids pick the top. That way the bottoms all look the same and the tops are different. Sorry but I'm not sure about the color ??You could call David's Bridal and ask some one there !

For my wedding earlier this year, I had very different shaped bridesmaids, so there was no way one dress would look good on all of them.I looked at David's Bridal mix and match, but I really wanted navy blue bridesmaids and didn't like the selections they had. David's is nice because it's cheap and easily accessible, but there are several designers that have better selections and similar prices, and can be found at most bridal stores. I ended up picking a designer, color, and fabric (Watters/WToo, indigo with black as an accent, and satin) and let them pick any dress they wanted. Oh, I did say that I wanted it to be floor length and have some sort of strap or sleeve (since it was a winter wedding and my dress was strapless). Then I let them wear any black shoes they wanted, and any silver/diamond jewelry, and any hair style so long as it wasn't a half-updo. It ended up looking fabulous, and they got lots of compliments. They looked pulled together but not matchy, and they were all very comfortable. Plus, they got to spend as much as they wanted. One bought a cheaper dress and used shoes and jewelry she already owned (on a college budget) and one bought a more expensive dress plus new accessories (making lots of money in the "real world"). But they all looked fantastic and stayed out on the dance floor all night - definitely a plus when you want people to have fun! For you: I would definitely recommend doing your homework and making sure you like all the combo possibilities before turning them loose. (I didn't mind what they picked, so long as they stuck to those rules.) Also, it's really important to specify the fabric/material - for most designers, a color will look different in a satin than in an organza, for example. Choose a couple small things to make them look similar, like jewelry or hair or bouquets, and check in several times to make sure they get everything ordered on time.

Usually the bride picks a skirt, a-line works the best of a variety of figures, and the maids pick a top that looks good on them. You want to pick the skirt because that way they'll all be the same fabric.
