I am getting married at the end of this month and my fiance and I are trying to decide the best way to serve champagne for the toast. We are serving a buffet style dinner, and we will have around 100 guests at the reception. There is not a bar attached to the reception hall, so we are responsible for supplying and distributing beverages. We plan on setting up a beverage station for tea, soda, water, punch, etc. However, our debate is on how to serve the champagne. He suggests leaving it on the table, but we worry about waste - because we are also supplying sparking juice for those who do not drink alcohol. I suggest having 3 or 4 people host the beverage station and people can go up and order what they want to drink and toast with whatever they want when the toasts are given. Any advice any of you could offer would be appreciated. I realize it's not a huge deal, but neither one of use know the best way to get this issue resolved. Thanks!!

Is there anyway you might have waiting staff, even if they were family or friends that could take around trays of juice and trays of champagne? That way people could get what they wanted...I think having people to host the beverage station is the better idea out of the two.

usually for a sit down dinner bottles of wine/soda etc are already on the tables for ppl to help themselves..... but since you are having a buffet dinner i think it's fine to go up to the bar to collect their own toast of choice- that way there will be less waste for you = less cost (and more $$ for the honeymoon!)

Announce that it's time for the champagne toast and start popping the corks. THAT will get people's attention. Then have a few friends circulate with trays of glasses of champagne / sparkling juice. (Other friends are busy pouring and replenishing trays.) When everyone seems to be standing at ready, glass in hand, your helpers also grab a glass and the toasts are on. If you have enough bubbly, let people get refills at the punch station.

set the champagne glasses on a table with a nice white tablecloth underneath them.Around the neck of each glass tie a ribbon either white or your wedding theme colour.put a strawberry in the bottom of each glass and have the champagne bottles in ice buckets close by have a friend or family member assist people coming to get their glass (maybe the assitant could begin pouring just as the toasts are about to begin) prior to the time of the toast and allow enough time for everyone to go back to their seat before the speeches start.

Try serving it in an old boot. That's always a classy touch.
