We are having a very small wedding (40 max). Since our ceremony will be in the morning (11am) with our reception immediately following, we are going to forego the alcohol and serve sparkling juice instead. Our reception is only going to be 2 or 3 hours long. How many bottles of the sparkling juice would we need for a toast or for the 2 to 3 hours. We haven't decided yet. If it is too expensive to serve the whole time then we will have another beverage to serve after the toast. although I am not quite sure what it would be yet since I am not sure how much juice I would need for the whole time. Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thank you for your help.

How many people will be sitting at a table? Lets pretend 10 people sit at a table. For toast you usually don't fill up the glass. You fill it half way. So, for 10 people you can have 2 bottles with a bit of left over. You can put 4 bottles at a table so they can drink the other 2 bottles with meals. Or, you can offer coffee and tea. Or, you can offer soft drink. Adults usually drink coffee after meals but they drink soft drink or wine with meals. The kids usually just drink either juice or soft drink.

A lot of times, you can get a bottle of Martinelli's Sparkling Apple Cider (color is similar to champagne) at the 99-cents store (or the dollar store). This is, assuming that you (and not the caterer) will be providing the sparkling cider. At any rate, assuming you have 4 tables of 10, I think 3 bottles per table should be sufficient. I think 3 people per bottle will be a sufficient amount for the toast. Remember that there are a few toasts and depending on the person, he/she may down the whole glass (or whatever is poured into his/her glass) for each toast. If you are planning to serve the cider for the entire meal, then I suggest 1 bottle per person. Each bottle of sparkling cider is about 4 champagne glasses full. Also, if the reception is outdoors and it will be hot, you will also need pitchers of water.

Please don't forget the water. Cheap and easy. You don't need to buy the bottles just rent a nice beverage container. You can also offer lemonade or iced tea this way very inexpensively. One bottle serves 5 guests a full pour and ten a half pour such as for toasting. About two to three beverages per guest per hour dpending on the heat and activity level. People drink a lot of water when they are dancing. Carafes for water for the tables are nice and with 40 guests you might need 5 carafes.

If you are buying the sparkling juice that comes in bottles the same size as standard wine bottles, then you can get about 5 glasses per bottle. Then you can multiply from there.
