Is it possible to have these fish as wedding favors for guests? Can they be bought in large amounts, say 35ish maybe more. and how much will it cost?My wedding is going to be at my aunts home and she happens to love these particular fish therefore if any get left behind I am sure she would not mind taking them in... and I like one per table, its cheaper and more fissys will live

Yeah, they can be bought in large amounts. But are all your guests going to want fish? I know I would, but some of them might just throw them away or something. The cost will probably be a lot more than any other regular wedding favor. Good idea though.

While it sounds like a good idea at first, giving away live things at your wedding may be a bit tough. Maybe you buy just one for each table - depending on your wedding size. Also, how do you know if they will want them? Sounds bad, I know but you have to consider....

Well you have to consider that they are living things with feelings too. They also die. Do you really want to give ppl this as wedding favours despite not knowing all of them are fish enthusiasts? If they can't keep them or feed them, etc, they will die. Can't you get something else as wedding favors for ur guests??

just a thought... are any of your guests flying in? I dont think that a fish would survive a flight. Also, I'd be kinda ticked if i went to a wedding and left with a pet I had to feed/clean up after. Why dont you use them as center pieces? They have those vases w/ plants growing out of them and the fish living in the roots. Then you can do the center piece give away 7 if the person who wins has a long drive etc someone else can take it.creative idea though!

It's a nice idea and they are beautiful fish, but you are essentially giving people a pet whether they want one or not. Think of the fish. How many will die simply because they were unwanted. Also you will have to make sure the favours are kept well away from each other (1 meter +) as the fish are known to jump out of water into a neighbouring fishes pool to fight/kill them. Hence their name. 2 cannot be put in together.

Are you wanting to do the fish to work with a certain theme? Another option might be to do fish cookie cutters then fill the inside of them with candy and wrap in tulle.

dont do it to the poor fish. Yes there will be guests that appreciate a nice little fish to take home but there will also be idiots who will get drunk and kill it or be cruel to it. It should be banned giving them out willy nilly like this.Sorry just my opinion......I feel sorry for fish that will get left in cars and forgotten, flushed down toilets or treated cruelly by guests who may get drunk and be bored.

Might make a better center piece than a favor. You won't need as many and people who want them can take them and if they don't want them they are not just left over.

I have to agree with Liz, yes they are fish, but they are living creatures and how many will end up dead, or flushed down the toilet. I bet a lot of people will also leave them behind and not take them, having any type of animal is a responsibility that a lot of people do not want or have time for. Although I like how you are "thinking outside the box" I just think this is a bit cruel.

yes it can be done, and would be a striking idea.HOWEVERif i were a guest i'd leave my fish on the table when i left. Otherwise i'd flush it down the loo to be honest.i don't want no spare pet!pets are personal. People should only take on pets that they choose. SO... perhaps you could have the fish on display and invite the guests to select a pet as a favour at the end of the reception. If only one pet goes to a good home, you'll just have to adopt the other 34ish fish. that's a lot of tanks... and cleaning... and filters... and food...

we are doing an assortment of fish for ours including Betta's. Betta's can run about $2.97 to 5.99 for the males. Females are a little less, but not as pretty. Good luck, and save the containers so your guests can take them home. by the way these fish are our centerpieces not favors. So if no one takes them I have a home for them.
