I would have that done by the time the invitations go out.

Register when you send out the invites - 4 to 8 weeks in advance.

It is never to early to start registering for gifts. You can update them all the time as you see things that you need along the way. You can go to walmart, targert, bed bath and beyond, linens and things, jcpenny, kohls, and many more stores. But you need to be registed before you send out the bridal shower invites so that they know what to get you. So I would say at the latest 3 months out but like I said its never to early.

I don't think there is one right answer to this. As soon as you have the date set in stone, you could register. I personally would either do it nine months to a year ahead of the date if possible, or wait until about 3 months out, as you would catch the right "season" of gifts for the time of year you are getting married. For instance, there wouldn't be much of a selection of outdoor and backyard items available to register for during winter months. (This may not matter to you a bit, just a consideration to keep in mind.)This is actually one of the less stressful "fun" tasks about wedding preparation that it's better to get out of the way so you can focus on other more difficult tasks such as dress shopping and fitting, etc. Some couples like to do this together, while other grooms leave it up to the bride. If you are having a couple shower, you really should be registered for some "guy" stuff too.You definitely need to be registered plenty of time before you send out any shower or wedding invitations; otherwise it defeats the purpose. Some smaller specialty boutiques may actually try to order out of stock items tailored to your registry selections, but the major retailers don't do this anymore.Good luck!

You should register at least a few weeks before the invites or save the date cards goes out. I recommend registering at some national chains and maybe a few local boutiques as well. Just please, please, please don't include anything in the invites that say where you are registered. The proper way to let people know where you are registered is to use word of mouth, guests should ask an immediate family member or friend of the bride and groom.

Okay...not sure why you'd register at David's Bridal as someone suggested...I don't recall seeing housewares or anything useful post-wedding there.Really, you can probably register whenever you want, just keep in mind, if you create your registry too early, what's available now may not be available then.

I would register right before the shower invitations go out, because as stores rotate stock, the things you registered for might not be available when your guests go out to buy for you. The registry should make things easier for your guests, not frustrating when they cannot find the things on your list. We did this, and even still, some of the things we registered for aren't in stock any more. Also, I'd recommend you register at a national retailer like Macy's or Target so any out of town guests can pick something up for you without any trouble.

I've read that you just need to do it before you are thrown any wedding showers. On alot of the wedding check lists that you can get it has you registering anytime between 5 to 8 months before the wedding.

I would register for gifts at least 6 months in advance. This will give you time to plan out what you want to register for and make any changes prior to bridal showers, which people typically start throwing about 4 months out from the wedding.

as soon as you set the date decide where to register and pick out a few things.. you can always adjust the registry later but some people buy engagement gifts off the registry or will need it to know what stores you like.. and if out of town family know they won't be able to travel to your shower they might send you stuff off the registry before your shower is even scheduled..
