Well, we didn't have the big wedding cake on show. For dessert, we had a variety of cheesecakes, and lots of dainties of all kinds. We did give out wrapped and decorated traditional fruitcake, for our guests to take home - it's our tradition that you put the cake under your pillow to dream on!I like your idea - lots of choices for guests! If they will all be varieties of cakes, you might want to consider cupcakes.

I had a traditional fruit cake but only one cake, it wasn't tiered. I know a lot of people don't like it but I do and it was my wedding! I didn't force anyone to eat it!!

I agree with H.Potter answer above. You can still have the traditonal wedding cake and still have different cakes and flavors. With a three tier cake each cake can be a different flavor. Since all you cake choices have nut makes sure no one has any allergies. Maybe pick one without nuts. Either way, it' s a yummy idea.

I like your idea. Our cake is going to be traditional-ish...in that its three stacked cakes. But the design is anything but traditional...it's supposed to look like a pile of leaves. But I've considered ideas like yours...like having different cakes.. Or making the cake/pie a centerpiece on each table, so people can cut what they want and its cheaper.I like your idea a lot!

We had a fab wedding cake - it was traditional, but made by my mum and her friend. They had lots of fun.If you don't want to make it, you could buy one. My sister had three layers of different cakes - choc mud, passion cake and fruit. That was really nice too. She only served up the choc mud on the day though.Don't forget, the top tier is supposed to be for the Christening, so you'll need a cake that can keep - that's why fruit cake is so popular as it will freeze.

I had my cake tiers decorated seperately and put them on cascading risers. Each cake was a different flavor and it was roughly $1 per slice as opposed to $3-$4 a slice because the bakery sold them to me as individual decorated cakes.

We had an almost traditional cake in that we had 3 tiers but each one was a different flavour. We had lemon drizzle cake, vanilla sponge and fruit cake. We also had a sacher torte made for me as I can't eat wheat so I couldn't try any of the tiers which I was assured were lovely!!!
