I am considering making the jump from my Rebel XT to a 40D and I would like to know which of my 350D accessories, such as lenses, batteries and flashes, will also work on a new 40D. I went to look at one in the local camera store but they didn't have any in stock. I've also been considering the 400D because I'm certain that my accessories will work. I'm about to start a photography business (mainly portraits..indoor and outdoor) and I would appreciate some advice on whether I should spend more on the 40D and what benefits this camera can provide (over the 400D) in my line of work. I guess it boils down to cost in the end. I'd have no problem getting the 40D if I knew all my current accessories would work but at the same time, I want to know what I get for the extra cost. I can look at the camera specifications until I'm blue in the face but I need someone to explain the different aspects and how they'll benefit me.Thanks in advance! |

| Hello. I have the 400D (which is very similar to the 350D), and I'm considering of getting a 40D myself. The lens and the flash will work on the 40D. The batteries (and its charger) will not work however. Also, the CF card will still work of course.Other accessories such as tripods and monolights are universal so you don't have to worry about it.What benefit the 40D offers? Well for one, the new 3" LCD screen is such a pleasure to look at. Then the grip is so sturdy and comfortable compared to the 350D or the 400D. It takes faster pictures, you can transfer your picture via optional wi-fi adapter and the viewfinder is bigger and brighter than the 350D. And finally since you're thinking of going professional, you'll definitely appreciate the 40D because of the better build quality (made out of magnesium, not plastic as with the 350D/400D) which will ensure your camera last longer and will likely to survive more abuse. Hope this helps. |
