For tips and checklists go to www.theknot.com or search for wedding ceremony sites. Here's the important things -Choose a location for the ceremony (church or other special place)Who will perform the ceremony? Since they are already leagally married, this can actually be anybody - perhaps someone very close to them. It would be a nice touch if you could find the two people who stood up for them, the witnesses, to their first marriage to be there again.Music - perhaps your parents favorite song, or something with lyrics along the lines of still choosing the same person. If he is surprising her, how will she have the appropriate attire? Could you pick it out and purchase for her? Flowers - food for reception/party - cake.Guest list

#1 thing, I would find out if your mom is even up for this vow renewal. Some people would rather be prepared than surprised. I'm not sure how long this surprise will be kept from her - the planning really depends on how much she would be involved and at what point. Also, are you thinking making the whole thing kinda like a wedding, or more like a party? Would you be doing it at home or renting a place somewhere? Are you inviting a lot of people, or is it just family? There are lots of possibilities, depending on what you have in mind.

I'd suggest a book called The Ultimate Wedding & Ceremony Workbook for the Planning Impaired. I recommend it to all of my small ceremony couples. It also has vow renewal ideas, too.
