I heard everyone say theirs tasted disgusting after a year in the freezer, so I didn't bother saving mine. We saved a part of the groom's cake and ate it about a month later...

I make cakes in Texas and most of my brides choose not to preserve their cakes, however, some still do.To preserve the cake put the top tier in the freezer for a few hours to let it harden. Then wrap with syran wrap (a couple of layers) and then foil. Put that inside of a tupperware dish and leave it until your anniversary. When you thaw the cake, take it out of the tupperware but leave the wrappings on the cake while its thawing, either in the fridge or at room temperature. Let it thaw for about a day and it should be just fine.

you take the top layer and put it in the freezer (not wrapped in anything) until the icing gets hard. then take it out and wrap it in many layers of plastic wrap, you can then add a few layers of aluminum foil or put it in a plastic storage container. this way it is sealed very well. then when its time to eat it, 1 month anniversary, 1 year anniversary, birth of your first child. you take it out of the frezer and unwrap it before it thaws, that way all of your icing stays on the cake and not on the plastic wrap, enjoy!i'm a cake docorator in nw pamy husband made me save our top, i'm notlooking forward to eating it, but i have heard that if it is wrapped corectly it still taste good.

Yes, some people freeze it, but that's silly.
