| What are the rules/laws regarding when you do or don't have to get a model release? For example, if I'm out shooting pictures at the beach or of a downtown, are there rules/guidelines for when I would need a release to use the image of someone who happened to be on the beach or street?I am not a professional photographer and have no illusions that any pictures I take could or would ever be used for publication. However, I do put together ads for a local business from time to time and those ads could include pictures I take. |

| You can photograph people in most public areas. SOme places do have security concerns. To use the photos, for any commercial use, including advertising, you will need a release. Its generally easier to hire a model or 2 with signed releases, spend a couple hundred $$'s, get the exact shots you need and not just whats there, than it is to deal with the possibility of lawsuits. |
