| OK - I normally don't wear any sort of fake nails. I really can't with my job (I'm a software tester, and have to do hardware testing as well sometimes, so nails won't work), but I want them for my wedding.My apt. is this evening, and I haven't decided on a length yet, nor a tip. My dress is white white, so I'm thinking I'm leaning towards French tip - square, but because I don't wear them all the time, do you think they will look funny? and I shoudl go with American tip - square instead?The wedding is in 9 days, at sunset in the desert in Sedona AZ.Thanks!French tip nails are what you normally see - stark white tips with clear base. American tips are muted white tips because they use a pink acrylic, and not clear.One is just more muted than the other.I have to get them done tonight. I'm leaving on Monday evening. I can't do them Sat or Sunday, as I already have commitments. That doesn't leave any other day. |

| I honestly have no idea what an american is.I think French manicures are great looking. Square tip is probably the most popular. Since you aren't accustomed to the nails, I really suggest just a bit, maybe 1/4 inch or less, off the tip of your finger.I find that really long (claw-like) nails don't look as good with a french and you don't want your nails so long that you cannot function.If you don't want a french, go with a light neutral-y pink. Ask if they have the color "ballet slippers" - - which I think is an OPI colors (OPI is a brand of polish) |

| I honestly don't know what the difference is. I thought a "french tip" was just an explanation of the color. I personally like the french tip. I also think it only matter what you like - I doubt most people will be focusing on your nails. Good luck! |

| Go for a shorter length, and french tip (Its most classic)! 9 days is giving you too much time to scuff, break, and scratch them..lol be VERY CAREFUL! |

| Go for the french tip. They are beautiful and classic. Since you don't wear them all the time, have them cut short, maybe just a little over fingertip length. This way it won't take quite as much to get used to them before your wedding. |

| I am not familiar with American tip, but I love french tips for weddings. I would agree with the 1st answerer, try to make sure the manicurist understands that you want them to be a very natural length, nothing over 1/2". Square tips are always gorgeous and are definitely my preference if/when I ever get fake nails. |

| If you still have to work, I wouldn't get them too horribly long--you'll probably break one off at work. The rest is pure personal preference. I'm not a huge fan of square tips--so I round off my nails. I do like the French tip though--I think it's a very clean, natural look, and will look great in pictures. Talk it over with the manicurist tonight, and I'm sure she'll give you some wonderful ideas! Make certain you also get a bottle of the EXACT colors she's using on your nails, because you WILL have to touch them up before wedding day. Also, between now and the wedding--make certain to wear rubber gloves while doing any household chores. Good luck, and have a wonderful wedding! |

| Why are you getting them done so soon? By the time of your wedding, your nails underneath may have grown even a little and it may not look as good. Plus, they will definitely need a fill before the honeymoon.I would suggest going with pink and white, square, short, and thin. They have a tendency to put a lot of get which makes the nails look thick. Also, tell them to be very careful when scraping your nail underneath and when buffing so that you don't have any cuts around your hands. If you have long, strong nails already then maybe go with a wrap.I wouldn't go with American because they can turn yellow and it'll look off with your dress. |

| Too soon to do your nails. Even if they are fake..get them done at most two days before.since you dont normally wear tips...a natural looking tip nothing too long. French is cute. The key is go for a shorter tip which looks neat and clean. If you have a short nail bed go for a square tip and if you have a long nail bed go for an oval tip. Just looks more natural that way.hope this helps, and congrats. |

| Definitely get square tip. As far as the tips go, I got mine done a while back and I had them do something that I can't remember the name of. It wasn't French tip, it was more of a natural tip to make the nail tip look, well natural. That's not American is it? Anyways, I like it much better than French b/c French is so obvious that you are wearing acrylics. |

| I actually really like rounded french. Its what I go for all the time. And actually I don't get them very long at all, its just because my natural nails get little white lines in them all the time so I like to have them covered.But ask the lady they will help I hope |

| I get my nails done on a regular basis. I always go with the classic French tip, because I don't like the pink undertone of the other. The white tip is always more classic and appears to look neater for a longer period of time. Although, I would round out the edges of the nails a bit and go for a shorter length. Sometimes, when they file my nails, they leave such pointy sides on the square tips. So, I ask them to file them down slightly. Enough that I have the square look, but also enough that I don't go cutting people or things with the sharp edge of my nail. If you are unsure of what you want. I would just go to the nail salon and try explaining the look you are going for. More than likely, they will be able to work with you to find a compromise.However, I would opt for a nail that shorter. I've been wearing fake nails for 2 years and I always go shorter for the nails. I hate those long claws people have, that's so tacky.Short is nice, because it gives you a more natural look, yet you still have the strength of the fake nail. |

| According to the beauty school I attended, there is no such thing as an American tip or manicure regardless of what salons may advertise. Are you talking about the shape of the nail? Squoval is the most natural looking for most people. You can get them done to look just like your natural nail (you can even keep the length short if you want) and they are actually harder than your natural nail. But you can get them taken off afterwards if you need to. |

| I had my nails done once with the pink acrylic and it drove me crazy. To me it looked totally unnatural, like my fingertips had a fever or something (j/j). I would definitely go with the french tip, they have a more classic, formal feel.Also, just wanted to make sure you know that it really sucks to take off acrylic nails. |
