I want a slr that has image stabalization, a decent amount of megapixels and does good in low light. Since I'm only 15 and definitely not the richest person in the world, I probably can't go much over $1000. [including lenses and all] I was planning on getting the Olympus Evolt E-510 cause it had every feature I wanted but apparently from the reviews I've read, it doesn't do well in lowlight which sucks cause I take a lot of pics indoors. The camera I have now [a canon powershot A630] is quite nice but I always have to use flash because it blurs otherwise even with a tripod & the shutter speed altered & I dont like that. Here's a few pics that I've taken with my powershot all unedited[anything that has better quality and fits with the paragraph at the top would work]http://i28.tinypic.com/3338qz7.jpghttp://i26.tinypic.com/118nn0j.jpghttp://i25.tinypic.com/dgs9y9.jpghttp://i26.tinypic.com/2zghmb6.jpghttp://i31.tinypic.com/fx7x54.jpghttp://i29.tinypic.com/ked9pv.jpgI never said I was a professional. I'm just a kid with a camera haha. But I do want a good one.

I dont want to hurt your feelings but I think you should keep your camera.and spend the $1000 on photog. classes. There was no subject or anything of intrest in any of the pics. Im not saying give up but you do need some instruction

you could start out with a Nikon d80 dslr and as you age you can buy more and better lens. Then when your older you can buy a better Nikon camera body and all you lens will still work.Nice feet. I enjoy taking shots just to see what happens using aperture and shutter priority that the way you learn.

I do agree a little bit with the first answer but I definitely believe that you would enjoy and learn a lot more with a DSLR. By far the best camera I can think of is the Nikon d40, you can get one for about $450 and it comes with a way better kit lens than the canon xt or xti. This camera will take amazing pictures and is extremely easy to use and learn from. It also saves you a lot of money if you want to invest in a 55-200 later on to add to your 18-55 kit lens. By the way, don't bother with the d40x or new d60, they add features which are not that necessary and add a lot to the price.

Take a look at the Pentax models, the have built in IS and are compatible with the old and new lenses made by Pentax and third party manufacturers.http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare_post.asp?method=sidebyside&cameras=pentax_k100d%2Cpentax_k100dsuper%2Cpentax_k200d%2Cpentax_k10d%2Cpentax_k20d&show=all
