Backyard weddings are gorgeous - I'd love to do one at my parents' place but it's a hill going straight up from their deck all the way to the fence! You certainly don't have to change out of your dress and tuxes if you don't want to! It's totally up to you. My friend did her reception in her parents' yard and didn't change out of her dress.

If that's where you want to do it you should! Why can't you get dressed up and dress up the yard as well. Have all your girlfriend's help you decorate like you've always dreamed. Martha Stewart has crazy ideas and flowers can be bought wholesale on the internet for half the prices of flower shops and arrangers. Have a beautiful wedding!!!

Consider getting a banquet hall, you'll save yourself the headache of "What if it rains"? Sundays have better rates!

I have been to many "backyard" weddings and there was rain at two of them. Make sure that you have a plan for rain. The one we did have outside was probably the most fun I've had in a while. How big is the wedding going to be? Make sure you take into account seating, food, and bathrooms.

Had our son's wedding and reception in our backyard. It was beautiful. Started to rain, but fortunately our neighbor had a great huge tent. Don't change. You have such a short time to wear your wedding finery.
