This completely depends on the level you consider your friendship. Is this someone you have known all of your life or is it someone you don't know really well and just hang out with every now and again. I'm sure either way, any gift you give will be appreciated.

You can go with the traditional....glassware, linen (tablecloths, sheets, etc) are they registered anywhere? If not, small appliances are always appreciated. There are some killer blenders, toasters, etc on the market.

Yes, always check where they are registered. Price depends on level of friendship. If not, a gift card to a home store is always wonderful!

i got married last june and i would definately suggest something off of her registry. i received many gifts that were not on my registry and i had no idea where they came from and was not able to bring them back. also, include a gift receipt! good luck!

I usually give money.. at least $50 if you are coming without a date and at least $75 if you are bringing one..if you can't afford that then consider doing something for them as a gift like offering to housesit while they are on their honeymoon..

when i got married i was given real crystal candle holders. i think whether you are close to them are not this is a good choice. maybe a free dinner for two to a nice restaurant or theater show of some kind. home decor is always good. if they have household themes like chefs in the kitchen you could go with that. and candles are really good too.

Work out what you can afford and see what on the bridal registry.

It depends on the friend, My partner and I are getting married in Feb next year, we have lived together for a year and a half now. so therefore we have all the stuff we need for the house(Manchester, appliances etc) So in lieu of gifts we have asked people to donate to our honeymoon fund. We have organised a wishing well to be at the reception so folks can donate anonymously.Does your friends have children? Are they living together? What are they're hobbies/interests? You need to find out a few things to decide a suitable gift for your friend.
