I'm looking for a table decoration idea for our 9/6/08 wedding. We are on a pretty tight budget so we're trying to avoid overpriced flower ensembles. My fiance has actually been quite helpful in planning and mentioned the idea of using green apples in a silver bowl, an idea he got from a fancy restaurant he used to work at in D.C. Anyways, our color are sage green and eggplant so i'd like to somehow supplement the green apple/silver bowl idea w/some sort of purple. Maybe candles? Grape vines? I'm not creative so any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

I like the simple idea of just the apples in the bowl -- it lets the shape and shine of the fruit work for you.Adding candles to the table is a great idea, too -- but I probably wouldn't put them in the bowl -- you'd struggle to keep the flame above the fruit and it would be difficult to arrange the apples, too.Add purple and sage votive candles in simple clear holders, in groups of odd-numbers.Consider lilac or lavendar sprigs in the fruit bowl -- a touch of purple, a nice scent, but not overwhelming. Lay the sprigs (like a nest?) around the sides, so maybe they get close to the rim -- but don't try to arrange them or load up the bowl -- less is more. Let the shiny apples piled high be the image you keep.If the silver bowls get too expensive, or you can't find enough, consider clear column-shaped vases. You can find them at craft stores for only a few dollars.

Purple tealight around the centerpiec would be nice and would tie into your color scheme. For my July wedding I bought the 99cent flower pots from Michaels, painted them brown and am sticking lollipop flowers in them. Around the pot will be green tealights in little glass "flower pots." I got a great deal on custom tealights on Ebay although you could also try Etsy (where I am getting the lollipops custom made)N.http://badhuman.wordpress.com

I have seen this done w/other veggies/fruits, so it might work well w/apples. Use firm wire (coat hangers?) and shove it thru the middle of each apple, to make a tower. You can make sorter towers to basically form a pyramid. Make sure that any of the top apples are inserted via the bottom so it doesn't poke thru the top. You could use shallow bowls/plates to set them in. You could garnish the bottom of the pyramid w/a ring of purple flowers, berries, whatever fun you can find at a craft store. You could sprinkle the center of the table w/glitter or something and put purple votiles on the table around the bowl. You can probably find more ideas online.

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
