I will be a guest at a wedding taking place in a court house in early April and I'm wondering what the proper attire is for such an occassion. The wedding is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Is a suit my only option? Or would it be acceptable to wear slacks, a dress shirt, sweater and tie?

I would wear dress clothes...not necessarily a suit. You know the people getting married are they fancy or casual? Go but what they are.

any of the mentioned options are acceptable. although courthouse weddings have pews, it is not a formal, "traditional", wedding. you will probably see a good mix of every type of attire.

I just happened to be at the courthouse after a wedding one afternoon, bride and groom basically walked in off the street...tank tops and ripped shorts. Guests, basically the same way. Go with what the bride and groom are wearing. However, a nice dressy outfit would be just fine, I'd think!

everything you named sounds great.. if there if going to be a meal or small reception afterward I would say base your decision on what is appropriate to wear to that location..

Where and How to Start?
There’s so much to do, it can be mind-numbing. Don’t worry. I planned and held my first wedding in two months and my second wedding in three months. If you have the luxury of a year or more, feel lucky!
Wedding Invitation
Ideally, invitations should be mailed out 6-8 weeks before the big day to give guests time to make arrangements to attend and RSVP back to you.
Wedding Attire
Where I come from, buying a tuxedo is virtually unheard of. Renting is probably the way to go to realize the ultimate savings on the groom’s attire.
Wedding Flowers
Cheap doesn't mean that your wedding flowers can't be beautiful. All flowers are lovely no matter what they cost.
Wedding Ceremony Decoration
Most wedding ceremonies are short and sweet, so why spend a majority...
