I haven't been to a wedding or reception since I was very young, so I don't know what kind of music is normally played at the reception. What do you play during dinner? After dinner? I'm guessing stuff you can dance to for after dinner, right? But can you give me examples of normal songs for this? My problem is that I'm not really in to music much, but I do like modern rock bands like Fallout Boy, Linkin Park, Green Day, etc., but I don't think you can really dance to their songs, or that people even want to hear that at a wedding. My fiance likes older rock, like Rolling Stones and The Who; can you dance to their songs? My fiance and I don't really even know how to dance, come to think of it.I really need help here! Thanks!I should add that we're probably not going to have a DJ - just use my MOH's laptop and some speakers. It's a pretty small room, only around 75-80 people.

You should ask the DJ that's going to be playing the music, or the church where you're having the wedding or something. They should have plenty of experience and lots of ideas.

Well you should play what you, your fiancee and both of your families like and listen too. You don't want people sitting there bored and not having a good time. We plan to play R & B, Hip Hop(no cursing), Oldies, Jazz, Gospel, Country, and most of today's music. This is the music that both of us and our families listen too. Play what you like.

I would play softer music WHILE dinner is served, you do not want indigestion to take place with guests. AFTER dinner, you can play the dancing music you really want. One way to look at it is to ask who your guest list is. Find out what era they are, that should dictate what kind of music you would play. Strike a balance but be sure to put in your favorite music - after all, it is your wedding. Congratulations!

At your wedding you can play any kind of music you want to. Get a dj or band who plays a wide variety of music and decide what moods you'd like to set for different times during the wedding & reception. There are traditional songs played at a lot of weddings but do what makes the two of you happy. Just be considerate of your guests too. The majority of them may be older and not appreciate modern rock so maybe a little of this a little of that and some standards for dancing. And why not take some dance lessons before the wedding so you can at least do that first couple dance with style and confidence.

Hey there. Just recently got married as of 12/29/07...We have been together for about 9 years though...anyway....Music huh..Well 1st UR gonna have the Grand Enterance song in which the brides maides and grooms men enter,,,and then U follow them to the head table (traditionaly)....Now this song should mean something to both of you,,,but not really a sappy song...It is your wedding and your gonna wanna remember things like this forever....U can choose a funny song for the enterance;;;;;EG at our enterance we played The Darth Vador theme song,,,since we both like starwars...Be creative...Plus it makes everybody laugh and loosen up a little.Next is music when UR sitting down at the table,,,,depending on the age of the people attending it would be wise to keep some classical soft music,,,usually without lyrics during the dinner....this will go on until the 1st dance...After the 1st dance then the music is whatever U want it to be. Don't worry about the dancing part....Me and my husband can't dance either,,,but we had a good time and drank,,,,so it really dosen't matter....As long as the songs have some meaning for the both of U,,,,,then U will enjoy the night....OHHHH and let Your DJ (if UR hiring one) know that U want to keep request to a minimal,,,,,and I mean MINIMAL....Our DJ ended up playing so many request from other people,,we didn't get to dance to some of our songs,,,,we ended up getting some money back from that......But make sure the DJ understands this....Then their is the last dance,,which also should have meaning...Good luck, Congratulations,, and CaterWhen UR drinking at your reception,,U can dance too pretty much anything... IF UR worried about bad lyrics and inaproperite songs,,,,ask the DJ to play them closer to the end of his time,,,,most of the older people and kids should be gone by then.....Anyway good LuckOH about the DJ part....Just some advice....We had about 90-100 people,,and decided to hire a DJ instead of trying it alone.....Renting the equipment can be expensive (almost as much as the DJ) Plus If something where to go wrong with the computer,,,,OHHHH lets say someone who drank too much is trying to play his music and spills beer on it,,,,or drops it........A DJ can take the stress off the reception,,,,and I've seen this stuff happen at other receptions...++++the DJ can sync the music up to the enterance,dinner,1st dance, final dance,,and anything in between.

Check with your pastor if it will be held at the church. Someplaces only allow certain types of music. If you can play whatever you'd like, choose your favorite songs.
