Ok. so I'm not hiring a bartender for my wedding and we're not hiring any servers except attendants for the buffet (we dont have a huge budget) either, however I would deffinetely like to have the traditional wedding toasts at the reception. I originally thought about getting 2 bottles of champagne or wine for each table with personalized labels and leaving them on the table for the guests, however, with the centerpieces, champagne glasses, silverware, and favors (each is a small gift box), and a disposable camera! I'm afraid it will all be too much! The rest of the beverages will be in a seperate room with the food but I would like everyone to do the toasts before they go to get dinner since it is a buffet. Is this too much to be on the 90" round tables? Any suggestions on how to disperse the champagne to the guests?i thought of this but it doesn't quite add up! the personalized labels were only if we left the bottles on the table and only cost about $20 for all of them, the bartender would cost over $200 at my venue- it just doesn't seem really necessary! Thanks tho!

We had the exact same thing & we just had the people serving the food fill glasses for the speaches, they had no problem in doing this. Could you ask the people in the other room serving the bar to fill some champaign glasses & leave on thebar for your guests to collect themselves? One wedding I went to did this & it was quite effective, they just had the best man make a small announcement that speaches were about to be made so could everyone please get a glass from the bar Surprised)If you dont feel right asking, you could always ask the best man to place the bottles on tables just before the speaches & have your guests fill their glasses, or have a good friend who is not in the bridal party help Surprised)Could you save some money buy not having personalized bottles & hire a tender instead? Just a thought Surprised)

you could designate one person or couple at each table and ask them to pour the champagne at their table..

I think since they will be drinking it before dinner is being served it will be ok- just get someone (e.g. a cousin or friend) to take away the bottles once the toast is done. You may be able to organise for the buffet attendants to do this. The guests can pour their own or designate one person per table to do the pouring (usually this will happen anyway!).I also like the idea of leaving the glasses of champagne on the bar for guests to collect. If the food attendants don't mind doing this that would be good! Or you could ask a friend or a cousin or someone to do it for you.Otherwise you could enlist someone to take around the bottles to each table (have one person take the bottles around and everyone on the table pour their own drinks or have a couple of people take around the bottles and pour the drinks for one or two tables each) and have the MC make an announcement that the speeches/toast will be happening shortly.

Have a few people go grab some bottles, and pass them around, people only need a couple splashes in their glass, and gee, let them walk into the other room and get their own. have the master of ceremonies tell everyone the toasts will be in ___ minutes, please get yourself a glass of champagne now, and would a few people bring some bottles along too please. that is what was done at every wedding I have ever been at, and it worked. there were bartenders at the one, but they did not serve the champagne, do not know why. And tell a few folks in advance, they could be passing out bottles. I'm sorry, I don't get why you are doing the toasts before the meal, so you're holding the meal for toasting, gee, aren't you afraid all that booze on people's empty stomach's will make everyone sick, or drunk? Do the toasts after dinner, then you will have no problem getting a few groomsmen and ushers to go pop some corks, and pass the bottles around.

We had a bottle of red and one of white on each table, and it works just fine for the toasts.
