She likes the nokia 7373 but it seems to be sold out everywhere. She also likes the sony ericsson 580I but I read a couple of reviews about the camera part of the phone, saying the zoom doesnt work and also the flash. Please advise as my daughter keeps pestering me to go and get her phone asap but not sure what to get her.

i cant help on the handset, because i am stuck in my ways and dont see why mobiles have to be all fancy haha but as for the network, you should find out which the most popular one is amongst her friends, as this will be who she calls the most, so getting her a network the same as them should make calls cheaper, also one that offers free text messaging is always good

It would help to know what area of what country you live in. As for the info you gave me, I would stay away from Sony Ericsson, as well as Sanyo or Samsung. Nokia is usually a good choice, as is Motorola.

I would get alltell. I have had no problems with them and I've been with them for about 21/2 years. I would get a samsung phone i dropped mine in a pool and it still worked after that like nothing ever happened to it. Alltell also has my circle where you can call any 10 numbers for free which is really good when your talking about a girl lol. what ever you do don't get SPRINT they suck so does Cinguler

I recommend either Verizon or Cingular. If you're concerned about her going over her minutes then you can get the prepaid phones. I don't recommend T Mobile or Sprint unless you want to lose her to bad reception.Verizon has a thing where you can send texts for free in the Verizon network. However, if your girl tends to move around alot, there's a danger of getting charged for roaming, which is expensive. Cingular has unlimited texting plan and has national roaming so you won't get charged. I find that both Cingular and Verizon have excellent service, but Cingular is more flexible. As for phones, I'm not sure what kind of girl your daughter is, but get something sturdy that can withstand getting knocked around. I personally paid for my phones (I got my phone in 2005, had a LG C2000 and it came free with the Cingular plan. They don't make them anymore.), and had the unlocked KG800 (the chocolate) and had an okay time with it, although it is easy to crack the screen. I then moved on to the RAZR and found the battery life to be lacking. I played with the Palm treos and I liked them alot, although they are very bulky. Very sturdy though and a good phone. I'm now on the Sony Ericcson W810i and I find the phone to be very good and the battery life to be outstanding.

First, check out a plan YOU can live with, unless she is paying her own bill. Some familly plans are good, but read the fine print, ask your friends. (parent)Then, I'm sure she has a phone all picked out. Her friends probably gave her the "411" on that. (pun intended)I "inherted" an original motorola Razor. I don't like cell phones. But from a military engineer standpoint, the darn thing looks too flimsy! It works GREAT, it stays charged well and gets a good signal in places in backwoods Tennessee and Georgia that I never thought would get a signal!Being in the Military, I hate it when soldiers in formation forget to turn off their phones, and they go off during formation. Very unprofessional. In combat, that sort of mistake can get everyone killed. (mainly with watch alarms)I also hate to see people driving and using a phone, that's too much like vehicular homicide to me.But I have to admit, when I get sent out to the store to bring back some item I have never bought before, it's nice to be able to stand there and discuss which whatsit they wanted me to get!

My daughter did the same pestering routine to me. Sam sung...the pix on the camera should be good...ask the clerk. The guy gave me a very nice one.NOW, if you do not want to suffer like i have, i would say no to her.I thought she was responsible enough to handle the idea of a cell phone. They think they know everything about the phone bill....unlimited this and that...blah blah blah...they don't want to listen. It is hard not to talk before 9PM! So check it out on paying extra for the 7PM time. Even then, they cannot stop calling......SO i would suggest that she give up the phone to YOU when she leaves for school. Hand it back to her at 7pm or 9pm. Free on weekends. There is a trick to this...what are you being charged for after 12midnight???Is it still FREE!? I had tons of roll-over minutes....i was paying the bill just great....I work in the late afternoon till 9pm....THAT IS WHERE I got burned...she was on the phone from the time she came home till it was time to go to bed.........the bill??? It became from 60 dollars to 1,269 dollars.AND she wonders why i can't seem to catch up on bills and get a decent car???!!Talk about being angry??I am very angry and the phone will be no more for her but only on the weekends. STAND hard and delay the phone. But if you do give her a cell...re-read the start of my advice.Unless the phone costs you at least 130 dollars and UP, they are not happy because their friends will have what she alwayssssss wanted. Or she truly wants to TOP them...and you sound like you are ready to take the bait...good luck.
