| It depends on what it's made of. Fruit cakes can (and should) be made weeks ahead of time. Regular sponge or chocolate cakes can be made a few days ahead of time, but if you're planning to decorate your cake with cream or custard or something equally perishable, that should be done no later than the day before and then the cake should be kept refrigerated and only put out for display at the last minute. |
